 Lambo Doors on a 3rd Gen Magna (2nd gen Diamante)
Just found this thread on a Diamante Forum.
http://www.diamanteowners.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=71890
Pictures from the above thread are attached below.
Wish they had put suicide doors on the back.
.
I know there are lots of threads about what a Magna/Diamante would look like with Modded Doors (Suicide, Lambo/Scissor or Gull Wing). But I couldn't decide which one to post this in so I've started a new thread with links to the others.

doesnt cost much to do either...TGC are doing a GB on lambo door kits, will cost about US$700, so around AU$1000 plus postage...not bad if u can do it urself!
are they chrome kaotic rims?
But hrmm.. duno about lambo doors... it looks unique... but also looks like a transformer :\

Well, that looks positively aweful but I can appreciate the work into getting it to a nicely finished state. It's just a pity about the asthetics of the whole thing.

Too hard to do, many people have thought about doing the idea but theres no room to do it. I'm sure there's a particular car with enough room to do the rears but I'm not sure if it's been done yet. Fronts are easy to do, get any old scissor door kit and have it fitted (wouldn't bother trying it yourself).

Awesome... loks a bit funny due to the bonnet and rear doors being open also. WOuld love to see a pic of just the two front doors open.
And I'm lining up behind sideswipe and cthulu for set of those projectors!

I think I still like the retrofitting of the Audi TT projectors into the Magna headlamp assembly....

I wonder how hard they'd be to get ADR compliant  where's heathyoung when you need him?

Here I am guys... I also spotted these as E39's.
Yes, they will fit, but need the quarter panel and front bumper remoulded, along with the grille and a bit of metalwork removed from the engine bay. - they are very tight, and the mountings have to be prefabricated. They are also mounted at an angle which is not ideal, so they do tend to run out of adjustment.
Also, don't even think of trying to change a bulb whilst the headlamps are installed in the car, you would probably have to remove the battery to change a bulb (if you could fit it in there - chances are that the battery is already in the boot).
These also don't look like true E39's - probably aftermarket depo ones, or cheaper.
ADR compliant... You would need headlamp washers at the least, you can get away from the autolevelling with some clever interpretation of the laws - ie.
1) You are required to have some form of levelling if the lamps shine above and below a certain angle under normal driving conditions. Must be adjustable from the drivers seat.
2) You are required to have autolevelling installed if you have xenon headlamps if the lamps shine above and below a certain angle under normal driving conditions. CANNOT be adjustable from the drivers seat.
Therefore, magnas (as they do not have headlamp angle adjustment from the drivers seat) stay in the required variety of angles, and so do not require autolevelling. (Otherwise all magnas would have to be recalled and fitted with headlamp levelling as they are not ADR compliant - like that is going to happen).
The xenon versions of these would require even more metal cut out as the ballast lives screwed onto the bottom of these. Hella Gen 3 ballasts too IIRC.
I looked into this as an alternative to retrofitting (as you get the good highbeams as well - those parabolic highbeams are crap) but with the amount of metal that needed to be reshaped/cut... I was very loathe to do this.
You don't realise how big the headlights are until you try to fit them... :(
Cheers

Yah, that's why most people who put scissor doors on the front, usually do the rears in suicide-style.

a few guys in the states install them, thet make/modify mounting brackets and move a few bits around so its a bit of work but far out they look sweet!
