Hey guys, just a quick question
I have to get my Discs machined on thursday and put new pads on.
How much should this cost/how much have you paid if you have done it??
Also the mechanic said 220 for luca pads ( i think thats the name he said) or 160 for stock pads, is this each or for all of them??
What pads are the best to buy as well?
Thanks for any help guys.

thats for all the pads, but not the labour. lowest quote i got for rear pads and rear discs machined was 160, so thats my guess.

lucas pads are my choice for a good quality, high heat, passive racing pad.
they dust like nothing else though
good pads, good fluid and braided lines is all you need for a awesome setup, i know, i race on it :D
Turbo, What do braided lines do? Stop the pipes from expanding when you press the brake down?

Thats the theory, and protection against things being cut. Autospeed did an article on this and discovered braided lines don't add much as normal brake lines don't expand much at all.

hmmm...... well I do the Lucas high temperature (650°C) front pads with Bendix Ultimate rear pads for $170 delivered.

just a warning on the lucas and ultimates, the lucas are dusty pads and the ultimates are non passive pads which instead of using the pad material and heat transfer, they just chew into the rotor.

very true about the dust. Bendix in particular has never been great on dust. But as for chewing disc.... not that bad from my experience. No where near as bad as Metal King for example.
If you want less dust, then you will need to pay more and go with EBC pads or even Ferodo DS2500 but we not talking well into 3 figures a pair here.

yep, i couldn't recommend a better pad for a magna than the lucas jobbies. with standard rotors and decient fluid, you wont get them to fade without really trying :D and if your hell bent on wankey rotors then you might get a half a corner more before they fade
