OK, its time for an oil change. Im pretty bored and have nothing to do so instead of taking it to the shop, im going to service the car myself today.
Just want to know whats the best engine oil to use in my 87 TN efi ?
Also, would i notice a difference if i get them expensive NGK spark plugs ? or should i just stick to the cheapy ones ?
I might fix up my CAI while im at it :)

what he said ^
if its getting tired (250+ km) best to use maybe a penrite 30w60 just to keep oil pressure up and minimise loss through burning.
plugs in engines make absolutly no difference to power, 2.50 a pop ngk or bosch units are perfect and actually really well designed.

im running fuchs 20w40
and i paid out $20 a spark plug to get a set of iridium spark plugs for my first gen from supercheap auto's. cant say i notice any major gains, but it does seem to run slightly smoother and im getting decent fuel economy. and because of thier long life ill probably never have to replace them...

yeah its more plecebo than anything mate, and not to mention the only reason people replace plugs is because they are old, of course its going to run a little smoother.
i run iridiums but only because the heat rang for high boost applications wasn't available in the el cheapo's

I run GTX2 in engines with 150,000+ Km and GTX3 in those which are under that.
A mate ran Magnatec in his Magna and the balance shaft chain quietened down, maybe because of the additive in it (makes it stick to stuff they reckon) - although a good oil stabiliser may have the same effect.

If Magnatec sticks to your parts, surely it also sticks to the metal filings etc that are part of normal engine wear. If thats so, wont it then keep the crap in your engine when you drain and change the oil?
Just a thort.

ive always wondered if the name magnatec means it sticks cos its magnetic. if so does that mean it has fine iron filings in it to make it magnetic

i wonder if they tested their product against cooking oil and found theirs stuck to the engine parts better...
and then some marketing genius thought up "Magnatec"

its sticky, but not because of magnetic forces, just sticky without being thick.

That isnt the go with it, Magnatec contains an oil stabiliser which means that the oil will coat things better and not just run off :)
Have a look at the lucas demonstation at your local auto parts store - it shows it well.
