hey i should be posting this in the problems forum but no one seems to go in there... soooooooooo, i just wanted to say that my front brakes were a little sqeauky and so i went to big w and bought some brake cleaner and squeak stopper and i sprayed it on like it said, and now my brakes don't make a sound when i'm slowing down but when im reaching near say 20km or so, it'll make this squeaky sound but its different to the other squeaks b4, its like a looooooooooooongish squeak.... aww now im all upset because this is the first problem i have, besides the boot release which i have to keep pressing to get it open, but does anyone know why they are squeaking after i put it on?....... i did put it on while they were WARM and it's also been raining today, so please tell me that everything is gonna be alright lol OR deos anyone know what else to do (please, please, please dont tell me to take my wheels off cause i dont know how to do that!!)

(wowerzzzz i wrote u a novel!!!!)

In relation to your brake problem it's possible that either 1) your pads have glazed over, simply hit them with some sandpaper to remove the glaze that has formed on them and that will fix it, or 2) In rare cases sometimes the calliper doesn't release properly and it still contacting the disc which could be fixed as easily as just pulling it out or it might need a mechanics help or finally 3) you could have a rock lodged between the disc and the pad which can be very bad and score the disc. (But one would assume you'd get the squeal all the time if this was the case)

I think out of those 3 things u mentioned it'd be number 1...... but that obviously involves taking the wheel off. Hahahahahaha @ me trying to take a wheel off.... anyway, do u know how much new pads are from mistu?... and new discs too, for reference. Cause maybe i'll get them to do it at the next service

Not sure off hand, but I can 100% assure you it'd be cheaper to go aftermarket.

Mitsu charges an arm and a leg for anything genuine trust us! lol

Get some nice Bendix or Ferodo pads and you'll be set.

*writes down* stupid question, but are they the pads or the discs that you mentioned? Also.... can i get them from somewhere like, say, Repco? And will they put em on for me? Hmm might look into it tomorrow.

They're pads :D my fault, I didnt specify what I meant.

You should be able to get them from Repco, I can't see why not. Just ask them what pads would be more suited to your style of driving, eg do you brake hard/soft etc?

i brake soft, but i want pads that really do the job well, like ones that i can feel gripping onto the discs, if that makes sense.... i know nothing about anything tech related, but i wanna be able to just tap the brake, and feel them working. Right now, i kinda need to push the brake in a bit to get a decent response, even tho the car is new.

If you are using the boot release in the glove box you have to hold it down for about 3 seconds...
This gives the motor enough time to pull slack out in the cable and then actually unlock the lock... Id assume that the remote button would be the same... I used to hold ine down for about 4-5 seconds to unlock the boot.

Have a chat to the guys, maybe go to a brake specialist, because some brake pads aren't good till they warm up after some heavier braking, so you want to make sure you get the right ones otherwise braking will be worse than it is now if you get the wrong ones.

i brake soft...

I had similar problem in my Celica before. Apparently braking soft leaves a glaze on the disc which causes them to squeak and squel. The mecahnic told me to every now and then, REALLY SLAM THE BRAKE HARD to remove the glaze. I asked how HARD? He said, 'make your wheels skid' hard.

Drive up to around 40kph and ease into a hard brake... ie brake lightly first, then SLAM IT!! Make sure you're wearing your seat belt when you do, otherwise you'll fly through the windscreen... :D

Also hard braking in reverse can help get rid of glazing.

But where do you do that? lol

Skidding is shit. You want to brake as hard as you can without skidding. If you feel like you're flying through the windscreen then you don't drive your car hard enough :p
