Hey all, need a little help for my mate. He wants to connect his ipod to to his alpine HU, which is a 9833. Apparently the alpine specific connectors only let u control the ipod through the HU but he wants to control it through the ipod. (if that makes sense). The ipod is the new 60GB one. So anyone that has connected an ipod or tim, magnat, eek can u let us know.

thanks for your help fellas.

if the unit has aux he should jsut be able to plug it into that, then get aux to 3.5 mm adapter (like 5 bucks at tandy) and should be able to control it throguh the ipod. it's what i do with mine :)

just curious but why does he prefer that option? i wouldve thought controlling it thru the ipod is more hazardous while driving!

Any Headunit with AUX in (so any alpine with this) will be able to run an ipod, all this week my mate brought his ipod along on the way to TAFE (we car pool as it's a 40km trip) and all we had to do was plug the lead i have (audio out into RCA out) and it worked beautifully :).

any alpine headunit with ai-net plug is able to have an ipod connected to it. Even the older models can run the ipod. Just they either dont allow you to control the ipod through it or they just dont show that its an ipod. Over winter half the alpine headunits had the ipod interface included for free. Might still be able to get that deal. Anyhow if you dont want to control your ipod through your headunit but still have the sound in your stereo, You get the ai-net-rca adaptor. Costs around 60-80 dollars for the cable. THen you just need auio-rca adaptor from dicksmith which will cost 5-10 dollars.
