I don't this is much to concern myself with, but it is a fault non the less. You know that red exclamation mark on the dial for when the handbrake is in use, well it stays on even when the handbrake is off. Is this a cause for concern?

possibly might be that your brake fluid is low, i know on my old car (explorer) when it got low the handbrake light would come on, not sure if its the same with the mitsu's but it would certainly be worth checking your brake resevoir level. otherwise it may just be a loose wire / connection on your handbrake :D

Theres a little switch on the handbrake itself which should just have one wire on it. Check its connected ok.

it could also be that there is not much meat left on your break pads :D

Yep that would be the one they told me at the service entre the break pads needed to be replaced soon. Thought thats what it might be.

3rd gen magna dont have that feature, more exspensive cars like audi's have that where there is a sensor in the brake pad it self which connects to the loom of the car.

The indications of the pads being low/no pad at all would be a high pitched screeching noise or a grinding sorta noise of feeling through the pedal when braking, if you are unsure take the wheels off and check the pads

Has the handbrake been adjusted recently? possibly just poor adjustment.
