just bought a TF with the 2.4L engine...nice and clean yada yada yada..
anyway, the question is, are these extractors or just the standard headers that come with the engine???

Iirc they are the OE manifold, can't remember too well since I've only seen 3 2.4 Magnas!

I own a 2.4L TF, and they are the stock extractors.
From what i know, extractors and headers are the same thing, USA call's them headers, we call them extractors :P

normally if they were the standard headers, they would have a heat shield over them, although they dont look anything special, but i haven't seen a 2.4 in person

Nah mate, i'm telling you. I have a stock 2.4L TF and they dont have heat shields over them. Maybe the v6's had heat sheild's on them but not the 2.4L, not to my knowledge anyway. Beleive me, they are THE stock 2.4L Extractors :P

i have a stock 2.4L tf. and mine looks the same as per that posted pic i might take them out, sand blast them, then sand it down and give them a nice coat of paint, i'm not really into that iron rusty look.
will gradually get a sports exhaust for it.

I keep forgetting how easy these Magnas look to turbocharge. Look at all that room.. lol
Although you would still be looking at least spending around $7K

This is getting a bit off topic but how do those 2.4's go? Do they respond well to the usual mods like exhaust etc...Just curious! I have never driven one.

okay here it is
After market headers are also called extractors, pretty much anything which is pipe work and not casted iron
Stock pipe work like that is called headers, otherwise known as extractors. They are far from tuned length, but would be better than the below mentioned items
Cast items are called manifolds, as are all of the above if you want to get technical. stock manifolds are normaly cast iron units where replacing with tuned length/diameter pipe work can benifit mildly.

don't know, only had it for 2 weeks. haven't given it too much yet..according to Blake (aussiemagna), they are not too bad.
a bit rough compared to my other 3.5L though.
i'll tell you in a couple of months when i start to put some work into the exhaust system(already got the K&N panel) and start on the CAI project

are these the same engine as the TR/TS ?
Quansta

i dont think so.. tr/ts are 2.6l anyway

ahhhh.
im just curiouswhat these would go like with forced induction
gen2's still got the 4g54 astron in them... really they just put roller rockers and a bigger plenum (efi models)... otherwise they are the same as gen1s. TS had different pistons and slightly different shaped combustion chamber... but still a 4g54
the 4g64 is in the same family as the vr4 4g63 sirius motor... just it's a little bigger... and well, we know that those vr4 2L turboed motors are pretty good :P so i can only imagine that they would go hard with a nice little turbo set up.

From memor TButcher turbocharged a 2.4 TE/TF a while ago. I'm not sure of the results, but he said it was pretty easy to do.

sure looks like there is heaps of room and those pipes are mild steel so could very easily be adapted to suit a nice big T3 flange for a cheap RB30/20 turbo.

They're stock headers as previously outlined. They look pretty decent too. The primary pipes are grouped as per firing order (1&4 and 2&3) as a 4-2-1 system. Pretty standard layout for 4cyls.
