This one has puzzled me for a while, on all TR TS and KR KS models the instrument cluster has a 'hold' light located below the tacho, next to the 'O/D off' and 'PWR' lights... Does anyone know what its for? There is no mention of it in the manual and ive never seen it illuminated....

I have pondered it for a while and came to the conclusion that it has never been used. There isn't even a bulb/holder fitted for that display. I think it would be nice as a spare display on the instrument cluster that you could use for something else... like a nice stealth radar detector warning light :D

Hook it up to a radar detector and it means "Hold off the gas" lol

sounds like the "hold" button or "power" button on some jap import automatic cars. it holds the gears for a bit longer to maximise torque b4 shifting. maybe it works on the jap diamante's? dunno, just my opinion....

Yeah that makes sense, maybe in the Diamantes, the PWR light isnt used and the Hold one is used instead.

old button/light holds in gear little bit longer for towing big things, boats/caravnas etc.....

Don't some 4WD drive auto's have something like this to stop 1st gear being used.For icy conditions etc.,???

I've got the same on mine and i was thinking about posting about it today.

I was thinking rev limiter thing would be cool, so when you hit 5,500rpm it lights up the hold light to tell u to change gear. It saves you getting defected for having one of those huuge autometer gauges.

Just an idea.

Yeah cetainly some good ideas the A/T mode settings make sense because of the other lights surrounding it, its funny that it was never used though as obviously when they designed the cluster someone told them to include it for some reason
