Help please
I decided to fit a mechanical oil pressure gauge, because the electrical ones all seem to have too a big a sender to fit on my TS V6.
There are a few problems. Firstly the plastic tubing supplied has backing nuts, but no ferrules. Has anyone fitted a guage like this. Did you use PTFE (plumbers tape).
Where did you place the gauge in the car. I am considering removing the cigarette lighter and fitting it there. There really aren't many choices in the Magna.
Thanks guys

It should have ferrules. I put 1 on a mazda I had. The line blew off and started spraying oil all over the engine bay. You shoulda seen the smoke behind the car.
Try getting an adapter for the electric one, if you cant get it from a car shop try ENZED or the like. They can probably give you a T piece that will allow you to also keep the original oil light, very handy if you dont notice the gauge dropping. :D
If you put a manual oil pressure gauge in make sure you use the copper tubing not the plastic tubing. the replacment copper tubing is only around the $5:00 mark and will not blow. :D

Have managed to fit the gauge. There were ferrules with the gauge, just I did not recognise them as ferrules and thought there should be additional parts. These are not the typical ferules/olives and looked to me like they would not compress, but they did. No leaks. But I had to use a file and thread tools and taper the fitting that goes on the block. The original Mitsu sender is tapered. Fitted GAUGE the left of the steeering column, worked out fine. Took wiring for light from the light for the cigarette lighter
Amazing oil pressure for car that has done 245000km. Running on Caltex Havoline Premium 20w50. Fitted gauge as motor is still sound and I wanted to make sure oil I am using is giving good pressure even when motor is really hot aand working hard. The gauge is surprisingly sensitive, just touch the accelerator and the gauge moves.Have 40 psi at idle, 50 psi at 1500 RPM AND 70 PSI @ 2500 RPM.Phoned the supplier of this $25 gauge and they assured me it is accurate.
So i might now try going back to Magnatec 10w40 or try Penrite HPR5 (5W40, imagine how quickly the oil will get to tappets etc on startup) or penrite HPR10 (10W50). I fitted the gauge because a friends V6 (same as mine) has low oil pressure and we found the only oil that keeps pressure when the oil gets hot is HPR 15 (15W60). Her motor must be very worn. She had terrible sludge problems and we had to scrape sh.t off the oil pickup filter- it was blocked almost 100%.
Just thought someone else might find this interesting.
