View Full Version : Extractors
Anyone know if a set of extractors from a TN will suit a TP?
dun matter if i have to make a "few" modifications :P
as long as it bolts up!

It should bolt up but you'll need to be able to refit the sensor in the exhaust for the computy. :D

Hopefully an easy drill and tap job :)

you will need to take it to a exhaust shop and have them weld in a boss. the metal is too thin to drill and tap.
or do it yourself if you have the gear.

What he said.
The exhaust shop should be able to verify if it'll fit ok too. Shouldnt cost much for the weld job. If in doubt go somewhere else. :)
Heres a pic of them... i think they already have a hole for the sensor.. its just blanked off with a nut.

Yeah I thort so. I was looking at them but decided against them. Cant remember why.
Just check your flange connection (bottom bit ) is in the same position and yeah, the bolt just comes out and the sensor goes in.
Check the price at a local exhaust shop b4 you bid so you dont pay 2 much, and dont forget to allow for postage :D

when my lukeys went on i had to get the exhaust centre to add a flange infront of my stock flex pipe, thats all changed now with full 2.25" new flexpipe to suit and a cat converter from a vp commodore, set me back $100 to install just the extractors with flange etc your stock manifold is most likley cracked anyway for the price id say go for it, that extra pipe inst used with efi btw

Whats the benefit of the VP cat convertor?

hey petew, i think the dumbass at the exhaust place reused my standard flex pipe when he did my exhaust so i might get that replaced and a cat put in. also its a bit loud and farty somtimes because i dont have a resonator/hotdog.
did you have to provide them with the cat ?
PeteW

i got my cat off ebay it was new but the box had been opened $60, stainless 2.25" flexpipe was $40.
Why a vp commodore cat? its a cheap hi-flow & the intake and outlet are 2.25" used for 3ltr & 5lts motors so it suited my exhaust also my old cat was hollow this is bad dont run your car without it made mine slugish under 2800rpm as it flowed too well stuffing the o2 sensor readings aka default map more fuel used and stank like sh**! as for carbi id say run a cat theirs a post about exhausts myth here somplace how u can make things flow to well id say same rules apply with cats
It cost me $100 to have the new cat fitted , 2.25" pipe to the flex pipe and another flange added to mate with my extractors & hangers etc, i dont run a resonator i wouldnt say mine was farty depends on the muffler i run the lukey turbo, only audio i have of it is the clip i made when the bored tb was installed lol each time a see it i say to myself yes the tappets need to be adjusted that tad more :)
back on track to the topic will they fit TN-TP most extractors are universal fit be it carbi/efi

cheers for the info
this is my car on the dyno a while back, before this new engine and k&n airfilter
dyno run (http://members.westnet.com.au/mccormack/tmterror.asf)
it made 80hp at the wheels that time or around 61kw.

i have no idea what mine would pull on a dyno its got a few k's on the clock :D when the timing/balance chains got done the machanic said the engine is no means tired still has plenty of torque

just thought id stir TM-terror up, with my stock car getting 61kw on the dyno :P
tho its less now, since my flex pipe needs replacing. :(

hehe yeah but that 61kw was with my ramflo foam airfilter on which would cost some power. and the old engine had serious timing chain rattle and float in the crank journal it was pretty worn. this new engine has quite a bit more poke. i remember when i got it, it felt like every gear ratio was lower, its much torquier.
I think there is a varience between dynos anyways
My car got 55.5kw atw, and it has a new engine, automatic and reconditoned carby - all completely stocko. no mods but a different rear muffler.
the EFI manuals got 61kw on the same dyno the same day.

that would b 61.7kw 2 be exact :P :D

mmm, indeedy... sif you guys got me to even get on the dyno... i knew my car would be the slowest :P

my goal is to crack at least 100kw atw
then eventually maybe 200hp atw
im thinking of getting a second hand supercharger and having a go at rigging that up.
might have to rip out the air con compressor and put it there.
It doesnt look that hard, the hardest bit will be connecting it to the weber and keeping it airtight under pressure, i guess ill have to make something up myself. on an efi setup it would be really easy. the problem is money atm, im just bludging around doing a casual job im only working 2-3 days a week.

here is my dyno result with a tired stock astron2 2.6L with the webber carb(poorly tuned), ported and polished intake manifold, lukeyheaders, 2 1/4 inch zorst into a supercat muffler.

tyerpres: 50psi WTF??
thats also very interesting that you hit peak power at 140 too mine was at 90.. oh hang on yours is in 4th gear
hey chris seeing as yours was in 4th when did u hit the 61.7?
also do u get to find out how much toque you have TM-terror?
TM-Terror
01-12-2005, 11:25 PM
3rd in the auto and 4th in the manual should be about the same gear ratio
yeah 50 psi !! the guy pumped up everyones tyres so as to reduce tyre drag giving affecting the result.

wow thats interesting but yer mines a manual and was done in 3rd, interesting about them pumping up the tires then, my presure would have been around the 32 mark
so yeh no toque figure for you then?

i wonder why they did yours in 3rd gear?
yeah no torque figure for me, i also wanted RPM not kmh
in 4th gear it maxxed out at 185km/h which is probably 5500rpm
100 km/h is 3000rpm which is where my car starts to make sweet noise : )

yeh for some odd reason he did mine in 3rd but 3lantes in 4th, which was shown lot in the torque figure because of the different gear,
whop just checked mine then mine peaked power at 103km i worked out on the freeway once that 100 is around 5200-5400 in 3rd i think... its been alot time now, i wish i could find out but the cars stuck in the shed for a long time :(
