hey guys,
Im pretty new to car audio stuff, anyways i got some clarion splits and rear 6" today, Anyway i wanna get em installed, i have a amp with rca imputs and my panasonic headunit has rca outs. I have a friend who works at a home thearte company and can get me some hi end RCA cables and speaker wire. Now just wondering if these will work ok? Is there anything specific i need to ask for with rca cables?

Thanks

Some car audio RCA's have an extra wire on them. This is for hooking up to the remote wire on your head unit, and the remote terminal on your amp. This will turn the amps on when your HU turns on.

It just saves you running that extra wire.

But yes, RCA's all work the same otherwise.

Oh, and yes, you must have an amp to use the RCAs. Saw a guy once wondering why his speakers weren't working... he had run the RCAs, cut them off at the speaker end, and wired them up to the speaker terminals (shield to one terminal, conductor to the other) :bowrofl:

A couple of hours later of explaining why it didn't work, some new RCA's and one of my amps dummy installed, he had a smile on his face. He went and bought a nice 4x100W repsonse (the old ones) and its still going strong 5 years later!
