Ok peeps I have found a buyer for my TJII..so now I must start looking for a manual magna.so i will ask for you personal info and thoughts before i buy..
Im a little uncertain on what motor to get..either 3.5L or 3L..both seems to go hard.but im liking the 3L for some reason.
The isn’t much difference in stock power between the 2 so im not to concerned about that.but I was wondering if both engines will respond equally to modifications.
There is a major difference in torque tho.wear will that effect me the most?on take off at the light or top end?
I will be definitely doing fpr, CAI,Exhaust,hi flo tb and suspension ..I MAYBE will do aftermarket computer and cams…
I have fairly good manual driving skills so would I be able to get the 3L go 14’s down the ¼ with the mods I will definitely do?
at the end of the day all i want is a 14sec magna doesnt have to be a gtr killer so if it only pulls 14.99 im happy..lol

3.5 and 3L theres a big difference to drive...
the 3.5s torque is so much more than the 3L...take each for a test drive if you havent already
they both take well to mods but the 3.5 will always be in front of the 3L
and besides the 3.5L will most likely have fewer kms than the 3l
id go the 3.5L

i hear the 3l has a much stronger bottom end, but if your not going to go the forced induction route, then the 3.5l is the best way to go, e.g better ecu, cams, and better design, with more klw's than the older 3l, but its funny when your looking to buy a specific transmission, when i wanted a manual i could only find a auto, and when i wanted the 5speed auto, could only find the manual's, had to go to melbourne to find a decent sports.
p.s can someone please please help me to get my pic up on my profile, do i need to adjust my camera? thanks :)

hmm yeah i knew that i was sorta hoping for some1 who had a 3L manual who hits 14's to tell me what mods they have done..
xbit-when i find one ill call ya
If you want to get into 14s, I'm guessing you're better off sticking with the 3.5.

I've got a 3-5 manual and people remark on it's get up and go.So you getting one is my recommendation to you.The workshop freman at the Ford/Mitsubishi dealership from whom I purchased it is also amazed and is going to buy one too.

hey mate, if your DEFINATELY gunna do cams and chip get a TH 3.5ltr, if your not going to get cams get a TJ exec. i've run a 14.9 in my TH with mods and TJ's are getting 14.7ish stock because of the different cams. might let my car go for $13,000....

I have a 3.0 manual and im more than happy with the performance it has. It has been to Calder and run a 15.3 with only the rear muffler changed and a tank full of premium. I have since fitted a Redback cat back exhaust and im lookind to do a CAI. Me thinks a sub 15 second time should be possible with these mods on a 3.0... But, the extra torque that a 3.5 has to offer ( i have only driven autos ) cant be looked past. Extra capacity is always a good thing :D That said, im definately not disappointed with my 3.0! :bowrofl:
