Hey all,
There is this plastic cover under my front bar attached so far back and its coming off and ripped in like 3 places. This is so annoying!!!! do i really need it? whats it covering? I just want to know if any one else has had this problem and what they did to rectify the situation.
Cheers
Its a guard to stop stones and other forms of debris from flying up into the engine bay.
You can remove it, but its a risk of have a stone deflect up into the bay and causeing some damage if it gets under a belt..
Id head out to the wreckers and grab another one.

It also acts as a wind deflector for reduced aerodynamic lift at freeway speeds, also improves fuel economy. Removing it does yield one benefit though, and that is improved engine bay cooling.

:stoopid: x2
Not to mention when you go mud bashing (as you do) reduces the amount of engine bay cleanup afterwards...lol
I have lost count of the number of 3rd gen Magna's I have seen on the road with these things hanging down... obviously they didn't quite get that one right.

i had the same problem after i parked too close to the concrete curb. it was damaged with only 2 screws holding it. (i can't count the amount of times ive seen this on the 3rd gens). i just got underneath the car, took out whatever crappy plastic screws were, and tek screwed the thing up.

It actually may decrease cooling efficiency as the pressure drop across the radiator would be less. I am planning to (once work has died down) to do a pressure map of the front of the car using a manometer then design a new more complete undertray. Get a new stock one or make a new one using abs plastic.

That's why I said 'engine bay' and not radiator. The deflectors decrease the pressure difference between outside the car and inside the engine bay, as the air has little area to escape.

Hahaha. I was about to post a thread on this same thing. That plastic thingy is barely hanging onto my car. Fixed it with cable tie for now but it's still an eye sore cos it's pretty warped now. Can't live with it, can't live without it eh...

I would take it off and leave it. It would make about as much aero difference as polishing your car would. Plus they are always held in with the crappiest plastic screws

get the vin number off a car in the yard thats the same model as yours... they can type it in and bring up that part with exacte number for that part. :)

yeah mine is a bit warped too, after i ripped it off by going too far over a parking stop thing (you know those **** concrete slabs at the front of ur parking spot to stop u going over?).. i managed to screw it back in, but it dips a bit now... i live with it, heh.

I'm planning to take it off this weekend. Will see how it goes. Not sure how many screws are actually holding it in place or if i could reach them for that matter. Put up with this sore eye long enough.

I've put new screws in twice already (only had car 2 months) but cos of those concrete parking blocks, it keeps coming down. I'm tempted to use Selleys Liquid Nails. Might hold it a few days longer.....................

it'd be good to have one made of aluminium and screwed in, i could do that for mine cos i'm a sheety, but i can't be stuffed, i just live with it. my car has bigger problems at the moment, like not starting and a smashed rear window. oh and the ants have started moving in since it's been stationary, they must like the chips, chocolate, beer etc that my freinds (hahaha :gtfo: ) left in the back on the floor under the seat, in the seat backs
