hey i have a 1992 tr 2.6l and ive just had an engine replacement, when the mechanic instlled it he didnt pug my air con back in, he showed me which 2 plugs they are and i cant connect them either, for some reason theyre too short to reach eachother so i need an extension, and will the air con need work after that?

where can i find an extension??

Fair enough.. where is this 'plug'? in the engine bay? or something else..

also, is it electrical or hoses?

take come pics of what u mean, its all very vague at the moment.

shure, but basically its 2 cables in the rear left of the engine bay (closest to passenger in front) the first comes from a bunle of cables that come out of a gromit thru the firewall, the second seems to come from the air conditioner, but iunno wat one actually loooks like (the mech said it was), both cables have connectors on them, one seemingly male and the other female, but they cant reach eachother by about 2 inches, its weird, pics to follow.

How could you not have any details?

You have to transfer the rego...you have to have his details...

So all you have to do is get the 2 wires to connect?..

if it doesnt reach (which is weird) he's obviously made a mistake somewhere or hasnt looped the wire around properly so it will reach the way its meant to. And is too lazy to fix the problem, so he's left you with it.

If you can easily reach the wires and fiddle around with them, you could make them connect yourself.. chop off one of the wires (use the most accessable one), strip back the plastic, grab some extra wire (any speaker wire or anything similar) and connect it all up. Then use electrical tape to seal it all up.

This is a very cheapo way of doing it. Otherwise u can go all out and use proper wire sockets and all that.

Or take it to a mechanic or electrician, they can fix it up. I doubt it would cost alot.

That is sooo close, how annoying hahaha

yea, theres no extension or anything u can buy.. ur gonna have to cut one of the wires and extend it urself or get someone else to.

Do it urself, easy as. 5 miutes

Also: whats that blue wire there? looks like another plug that isnt connected to anything??

My bad mate...I thought you said you bought the car off the mechanic.

I could be wrong but i dont think they are meant to join together.

The white wire looks like the timing check connector and the blue wire looks like the fuel pump test connector. Both these connectors sit up on the firewall on the passenger side.

I would be looking for another disconnected plug closer to the a/c compressor

The connector you have in your hand goes to a black and white wire which is in a loom that runs under the inlet manifold. It is connected to the A/C relay in the fuse box.

I'd like to say why the hell he had to disconnect the air/con in the first place other mechanics unbolt the compressor and let it sit in the engine bay while they pull the engine out what a dick.

I have 2 plugs on my firewall so yeah there should be another plug down lower somewhere unless he ripped it off while taking the engine out.

I'd like to say why the hell he had to disconnect the air/con in the first place other mechanics unbolt the compressor and let it sit in the engine bay while they pull the engine out indeed, just used some metal hooks to hold it up against the firewall. that's what my mechanic did when i got my new motor. even the gregories for my car says not to disconnect it, just to tie it somewhere.
