Hello forum members from down under,

I was wanting to get some input from you.

In the U.S., The 1st generattion Diamante uses the Mitsubishi 3.0 motor. This Mitsubishi 3.0 motor has been installed in a lot of different auto makers cars over the years.

The base Diamante model came with a 3.0 SOHC (Single Over Head Cam) while the LS Diamante model came with the 3.0 DOHC (Dual Over Head Cam).

My quetion is: Are you able to take the heads of the DOHC and put them on the SOHC without any major modifications/changes?

Also, feel free to post your input on the U.S. Diamante Owners website under "First Generation (1992 - 1996) Modifications" "Why Coulnd't You" --->http://www.diamanteowners.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=71996

Thanks for your feedback

Hello Matthius,

Thank you for responding and yes you are correct.

Unless I missed something, after searching the AMC Forum all I came up with was ambiguity and uncertainty on the subject matter - DOHC heads on a SOHC motor. I have to apologize for my ignorance when I say I don't understand what "complete front cut transplant" means. This would be terminology I'm unfamiliar with and is probably due to our motorhead cultural differences.

You guys (and gals) run a great site here! :D

Thank You for any input.

Hi and welcome.

By half cut Mathius is refering to a section from a car found at the wreckers that comprimises everything forward of the A pillar. Usally engine (and sometimes gearbox), drive shafts and front suspetion. It could at times also inlcude an ECUetc...

PM Killbilly mate. He's done the transplant into his car.

I think they're not interchangeable, you'll need to swap the whole lot.
