Well I dont know what has happened to my car, but during the 8 hours or so it was parked in the carpark at work, it has come alive. Every 1.5 - 2 seconds, there is a horrible pulsing squeel from the front speakers, and a thump from the sub. If I unplug the RCAs it stops, so obviously the RCAs are getting interference from somewhere, but it beats me as to how this could come up from being parked for 8 hours. Any ideas?

get new RCA's, they prob got something wrong with them, or maybe a metal part has cut into the RCA's.

Well I just went and checked everything. No damage to RCAs, but now the pulsing is a constant squeel through the speakers and thumping through the sub (although doesnt change with revs). Im gonna buy a new set of RCAs tomorrow which, fingers crossed, should fix the problem

hmm..
I had that thumping sound from my subs (sounded like a heartbeat lol ) One of my RCA's was stuffed.
But if your front speakers are doing funny noises too, i dont know might be your deck.

Well I replaced the RCAs with sheilded ones, and it still does it. If only the subs plugged in, then it goes crazy. If i plug in one channel of the front speaker amp, its okay, quiet noise. If i plug in both channels it goes crazy. Weird...

Sound thru speakers could be earthing...
Where is the deck and amp earthed to...
Are u using the stock deck connector with the connector cut out...
if u r then you have no ground and need to run an external ground from the ground wire on the deck to the metal part behind the radio console hole...
Where is the amp located?
How is that grounded to?

The HU is grounded to the mounting frame, and that is grounded to the chassis. Both amps are grounded straight to the body. Weird thing about all this is it just started happening after being parked for 8 hours

What deck is it??
What amp is it ??
Either one of these is stuffed..
use a different source. try a cd discman or ipod. plug that thing up to the amps with a 3.5mm to RCA cablee, and see if it still does it. if it still happens, it means there's something wrong with ur amp.

Just tried eeks suggestion, and there isnt any problems when using a discman as the source, so its a problem with the HU. I might take it into strathfield (where i bought it) and ask them about repairs

hey there it only one problem rca ground fuse in the head unit. if its a pioneer or kenwood or a well known brand hu it should only cost nomore than $40-$50 ive had that same problem be for getting new rcas wont do it its either get a new head unit or get the ground fuse replaced. i dunno how it happened to you but some how your ground wire from your amps would of come loose or something and the amp would of used your rcas to ground which would of caused the ground fuse in the headunit to set off.
