Does anyone know where to buy an adapter (or spacer) which allows you to fit an 6.5" speaker in a 6x9 hole for the rear of the Magna?

i'll be making some for some 5" i'll be fitting soon.
i can't see it being that hard, just trace around the stock speaker onto some MDF, drill holes into the MDF where the factory speaker holes are, then cut out the hole required for the speaker. might wanna check how much clearance there is to see what thickness MDF you will need, also spraying the MDF completely with something waterproof will also help it last a lot longer as there can be quite a bit of moisture build up under the shelf.

You should just remove your whole rear shelf and re make it with MDF.
I actually have the opposite problem. i can only install 6/6.5" speakers in mine and have to use a spacer for the 6x9's

I am more then content with using 6x9's they do have better Mid Bass punch then a 6 incher.. and Blend in better with my subs

but not everyone wants them to blend in, you dont want 2 separate frequencies blending in, they should sound be distinctly different. Subs should play all the bass one needs.

from what i've heard, 6x9's are prone to distorting earlier as they have a weaker cone shape, round speakers are quicker and more accurate, and if you have subs the rear speakers dont have to extend to the frequency that 6x9's do, as most 6" will go to 100hz easily anyway.
i get all my stuff from my local Tokins store, and 2 of the guys there have 3rd gens with heaps of custom work done, and both hae 5 or 6" rear speakers in custom moulds.

Whilst yes it is all good and true it depends what you expect from your system and how you tune it..
Me, I like a Good Mid Range Hump with lots of Punch so the 6x9's do a wonderfull job of that , my 12 inchers are cut off nice and low so their is no Cross Frequency cancellation..
The Fronts handle the mid to High, the 6x9's the mid to Low and the Two 12 inchers do the dirty work..

Well guys i found out the easiest way you can put 6.5" speakers in place of your 6x9 and you don't have to touch a jigsaw.
Go to a Mitsubishi Wrecker and ask for the 6x9 to 6.5" metal spacers that are in all Gen2 Verada's (not poverty packs). Be careful as some are 6", not 6.5" (144mm). I got some from Eddy Wreckers and have done the job perfectly.

...bringing up a relatively old thread... but I was browsing last night and happened to come across this .... I rang up a few wreckers today and was able to locate what Ralliart 410 was talking about ... the wreckers found some in a series 2 magna (not Verada!!) so I was pretty happy! ($20 a pair) will have to pick them up later in the week.
thanks for the suggestion Ralliart 410! (so that must mean that they are available in the normal series 2 magnas - or maybe some had them equiped? I know it's gotta be the ones, as I clearly explained it to the guy as per thread and he said yep, has them :) )

Good work. I looked at numerous Gen2's and it was only Verada that had them. Perhaps an audio upgrade meant this were included? Either way it's a fast and easy solution. The early ones only suited 6" drivers so avoid these and get the plates for the 6.5" if that is the size of the drivers you will be using.

yeah, I'll check em out thoroughly and make sure there the right ones. Only able to do that on friday (have half day - finish at 12pm so will be able to get to the wreckers - only open during my work hours lol). For 6.5inchers...
cheers again!
