Ive had the coolest idea!

Why let the street machiners have all the fun with fabricated rear ends and mini tubs! lets stick an AWD tranny behind the motor of a second gen, turbo it, then, after converting the tranny to NOT sending power to the front wheels, send it all to the back, Via a 9" ford diff, hanging from a custom, drag style 4-link rear end, between mini (or full) tubs and a BIG set of fats! We can build a realy nice looking body over the whole thing, mabey a two door conversion, roof chop, ect, go and stir up the street machiners and hot rodders BIG TIME! I recon it would be the coolest thing in the world, seeing an olive green magna, the driver wearing a woolen cardigan, win the burnout comp at sumernats........ :evil:

there was an AWD second gen on ebay not along ago, just with no engine,

why dont you use the engine from the magna now but make it RWD, i.e. north south config?

jake was thinking on doin an awd conversion on his 2nd gen, i dunno if hes still thinkin bout doin it or not but yeah it is a good idea, although it'll be very expensive- but since u sed money is no object, it would be awesome to see it done

I reckon you install a Guinea Pig in a spinning wheel inside the engine bay, and feed him narcotics, or some form of mind altering drugs. Should make around 25354kw at the wheels (give or take 25353kw or so).

Just to let you know 2nd gen diamantes ( which are 3rd gen aussies) did NOT come with an AWD option.
And nither dod 1st gen diamantes (which are 2nd gen aussies).

No american diamante came with AWD options.

The tritons we have at work are RWD with 6G72's in them. I'm sure we could fit this to a Magna body be it 2nd gen or 3rd (as we are changing whole running gear, we will need custom mounts anyway).

Twin turbo it after rebuilding the motor and working the heads cams..etc..

It should be a monster of a car, drag, drift or track.....now about that credit card :D

BlackD.....my fault, i was on ebay and some guy had built an AWD 2nd gen (1st gen diamante) and was selling it. i cant remember if it was a one of or if there were a few, after you said that, im sure it was one off.

I made up some artists impressions of some awsome ideas

but as i said many people told me to use the triton body for this and swap the magna panels on, as the easiet way to go.

the reason that no one has done a rwd conversion, is because the majority of people asking are dreamers ....... eg. have no idea about the amount of time and money required for such a custom job.

dont get me wrong though, i luv magna's, if you read my profile you will see i have done quite a bit to mine, i just find it hard to comprehend a rwd v8 magna, let alone the fact that you would prefer a magna over a ferrari ! :nuts:

In my opinion the ultimate magna would be a second gen verada, with a 1UZ-FE Lexus 4L quad cam V8 supercharged, rwd, and stock looking, ultimate sleeper. probably pull a nice quarter also.

Well finding it hard to comprehend is kinda silly considering the car that won this years autosalon series is just that. daryl mcbeths magna, 400ci come race motor rear wheel drive 2 door on bags. so yeah it is very possible. and after chatting to him earlier this year about the job he says it really is not that hard to do yes he went quite extreme but his first build up was quite basic and worked well

I do believe that that car cost over $160,000 to get to its current state
and thats not including the car that mitsu donated in the first place.

mitsu only gave him the shell, as he wasnt going to be using the gearbox or engine in the 1st place......so for the shell it wouldnt be that much...
