Just wondering if anyone has had their 3.5 rebuilt at all??
I know there isnt any specific rebuild kits for the 6G74, and would like some info on what parts people have replaced eg, seals, bearings, tappets etc. What would you expect to pay in labour to pull one down and put it back together?
What opinions are there on what things would be good to replace during a rebuild?

The US ebay has a full seal kits for 6G74 for $60us. Go to Ebay.com and use DIAMANTE as a search.

have u called repco or some where similar, u can buy rebuild kits.. i know for the 6g72 its $700 or so, or was it $450  meh one of the other...
but yeh if u have to ask wat u need for a rebuild id suggest not doin it yourself and just either buy a 2nd hand engine or hand it over for some one else to do. labour wise will be a fair bit, caz there will be the mechanic to strip it down ect and then they send it off to be machine and balanced then wen thats back they put it together, so its kinda costly

No certainly dont intend to do this myself....well id maybe tackle on old carbie 202 or something, but not a modern efi engine. I was just wondering to what level it would be beneficial and where people feel the most wear might occur. Ive never really heard of anyone doing crank bearings etc, so not too sure wether its even worth going into the bottom end.

If you can get the motor out and have a VERY clean area to work on, and plenty of time for the car to be off the road, I would give it a shot.
Its not a complicated engine at all, being efi everything just plugs in.
If there is big problems with the motor, just bite it and recondition it (rebore, over sized pistons etc). If the motor is just getting tired from being above 200,000 you can probably just give it a deglaze and slap some new shells and bearings in it and check the rest and replace if need be.
Ive rebuilt much more complex engines and have never really had any real dramas.
