Just been away for 2 weeks. Got back home yesterday turned the car on. And a huge rattle coming out of the engine. I thought if the car warmed up itll stop but it didnt. Its in frequency with the revs so its something that spins. And it really sounds like its coming form inside the engine rather then outside (belts etc...) .

I know - you didn't disconnect the battery while you were away did you!!

You really should have done that!!! It's very important!!!!

top of the engine or bottom of the engine..

doesn't sound good mate..

take off the belts and run the motor for a few seconds and see if the noise goes away. you might get lucky and its just the air con compressor clutch or a alternator bearing.

put the belts on one by one and when the noise comes back you will be able to figure out what it is (thats if the noise stops when they are all off)

i wouldn't drive it anywhere until you sort it out, at best its just a alternator bearing and your alternator belt snaps. worst case you could have a crushed/spun bearing or cracked ring.

Similar issue with mine currently.

If your noise is coming from the drivers side of the engine I think you will find that it is the drive belt tensioner. If you put a little extra pressure on the drive belt and the noise goes away I would be almost positive that that is the problem.

is it like a high pitch noise and it goes away when you stop reving?

got it looked at. it was a belt tentioner. probably after being in hot wheather without being run for a while god loose or something. all good now, bit more tention and a bit of grease and shes apples.

Thought as much, mine is actually getting replaced, like as i said it has already stretched two drive belts.

Do you think that is related to the supercharger?
