That sucks dude!
Yeh i'd say its a write off, how much is the car insured for?
Let's just hope his insurance company pays up, good thing calling your insurance though, even though you only have 3rd party, they'll still try to help you out with advice and stuff. Were the police called at all?

Hmmm that MIGHT be salvagable, but it'll be very close to a write-off. I know what you mean by priceless though, i want a new car, but everytime i think about selling this one, i nearly cry lol. Good luck with getting fixed!

That's fixable
Doesnt look like the pillars are damaged that much.
New door, bit of straightening it'll be right.

You should see the pics of my car when it got hit by a flying log (yes the tree hit me!)
The B pillar was pushed in so far that my seatbelt was wedged against my seat. I could put my hand between the rear drivers side door rubber and the body, thats how hard the pillar was hit, it pushed the front of it in and the back of it out a lot.
Wasnt a write off, it was fixed under the other guy's insurance, but the quote was about 2900 bucks. And unless you know what you're looking for, You can't tell.

I think you've been lied to about how long 6 inches is :D
That is easily fixable and has certainly not been pushed in 6 inches.
Maybe 3.

ur car looks fine but of a kick and hammer from the inside should straighten that door out.

It would be cheaper to replace the door with a secondhand one from a wreckers, panel the front guard (minor damage, about 30 mins work to panel it out) It would take longer to remove the front guard to panel it than it would to do the repair to it.
The door is bolt off bolt on the newie / replacement, and the sill is easily repaired with a slide hammer , 3 screw holes in it, and about 3 teaspoons of filler to repair the screw holes (used to slide hammer the sill back out)
I recon, unless the pillar is damaged ( I doubt it from the pics), probably about $1500 -$1600 would pull it up, icluding the new external door inserts. Thats what we have charged for repairs that looked identical.
It depends on the insurance company, some will just say its not worth it and some (very few) will repair, even at a cost higher than the vehicle is worth.
Was there any witnesses? did you get details? Here in QLD the police are required to do a report even if nobody was injured and the damage is over $2500, but as I said, I doubt that it would be that high.
IF they do write it off, you should easily be able to buy it back as a repairable write off.
We recently had an imported ford telstar (1995 model) written off because it had a broken windscreen and a damaged A pillar, the total costs quoted for these repairs was going to only be $1250

No holes needed as any decent shop will have the ability to spot lugs to the damaged sill and pull it out.
The door is a write off as the intrusion bar will be bent, the rear door is cheaper to replace.
If lucky, the panel shop will get 2 doors cheap enough from a wrecker the same colour which will save cost in painting the inside areas.
The only concern will be the a pillar but I doubt it is bent

Hey madmagna,
Decent shops will also tell you that with the very thin metals used in vehicles nowdays, the liklihood of a spot weld tearing off is very high.
I have worked in 3 prestige repair shops in sydney and they all use the same proceedure I described using a screw and slide.
In shops I have worked in ( I contract work), we have previously experienced issues with spotwelds on the very thin metals that are used in cars now days, they tear off, even when using large fillet welds. The easiest, quickest way to repair a sill is simply to insert a screw and slidehammer it out.
From the pic (poor angle) and the damage shown on the door I highly doubt the pillar will be damaged at any point.

Even if the pillar is bent it can be repaired. Mine was bent and it was fixed fine.
