Have a 96 verada ke and sounds like the same sort of prob,engine idles just below 1000rpm then will go up to 1300rpm for no reason,then back down.I was going to get someone to computer tune it so if I know what I am talking about to mechanic it would help.Also tends to jump into 1st gear on the auto when coming to a stop,would this be linked to the problem mentioned???

Does it do this all of the time or only when the air con is on? Mine has manual air and does this when the compressor switches on at idle. Other than that, i have no idea. :D

Yeah this is a computer related problem..u can stop it by unplugging the throttle sensor, otherwise look around for a 2nd hand computer......had the same thing happen to my hyundai sonata...

happens on start up when car is hot without the aircon on,will idle above 1000 rpm then down below then back up.

get the tps reset and tested and also the base idle reset this will normily fix the problem
as the ecu uses this siginal for idle and auto trans
