I have just purchased an eclipse head unit which in some ways i am really happy with and in others pretty disapointed. anyway... like the rest of you have probably already gone through, the surround does not fit properly. I know some of you have just mounted your HU out further, but i dont want to do that.

has anyone made up here own surround? if so what did you use and how did you attach it?

Is that from Tonkins? They have them for $399.00 i think? Doesn't look bad and has great features but lacks in other areas.

I have the 5425 and got northfield car sound to install it for me (i really just CBF'd) and the surround sits fine. How are you dissapointed with the unit? Mines pretty great, well going to eclipse from a low budget pioneer. hopefully now i can build a respectful stereo system.

yeah its the one from tonkins. It seems like a top quality deck and will be great if i attach an amp, which it looks like i probably will. i am not so disapointed in it now, the bg negative turned out to be a warrenty claim so i sent it back.

One thing that alot may dislike about it (but i love) is the simple (plain) display. It is quite large and has heaps of info on it but it is only one colour. I think the simplicity makes it look like it should be there. it is not over the top, just really clean.
