I have 2 fans mounted on my V6 TS, Im not wure what the go is with them but when the car comes upto slightly over half on the temp guage one fan kicks in.
If the aircon is turned on, the same fan kicks in straight away.
the second fan (passenger side) doesnt seem to kick in at all.
What controls the second fan on the passenger side of the radiator? What should I check, ive checked the fuse and relay boxes.
the fan motor itself is probably screwed.......
should be able to pick up a whole fan (motor, mountings, blades... etc) from a wrekcers for around $15-$25.

Get relays from the TM-TP and replace all of them in your engine bay fuse box.
This is a very common problem, the metal covered ones seem to go all the time.
I ahve the plastic ones from the TP, my relays have not played up since

i had a problem like this once. An autolec fixed it. Although the fan only comes on when the engine heats up.
Is it meant to go on straight away when you put the a/c on? even when engine cold ?
In my dad's commodore the fans go on when a/c is switched on when engine is cold.

Yes the fan comes on with the AC, the Right side (drivers side) fan comes on with the engine at temp (middle of the temp guage) but the left fan (passengers side) doesnt come on AT ALL.
wouldnt they be on the same relay? Which relay is which???
As I said, my cover has had the writing damaged on it.

Yeah i think its the same relay, i'd take a photo but i left my camera at my parents house :(
Looks like mines still broken then, no fans come on with a/c on with engine cold.

There are 2 relays which control the fans. One relay is controlled by the thermo switch in the radiator and the other relay is controlled by the A/C.
If either relay turns on then both fans should turn on. The reason for seperate relays is that the thermo switch goes ground to turn on the relay and the A/C goes to 12V to turn on the relay. The fans are grounded through the relays to turn them on. The outputs of the relays are connected together which is why both fans turn on when either relay switches on.
If one fan is turning on but the other is not then it is certainly the fan itself or the wiring to that fan.
The relays in the TR series are very ordinary and mitsubishi actually have a kit you can buy which converts the two relay setup into a three relay setup. It is a bit of mucking around to install but prolongs the life of the relays. Dont know if this problem was rectified in the VS.

OK, today I went to my local (50Km away) mitsu dealer, he said that the screen printing for the relay box isnt made anymore and on monday he will see if its still available within the Mitsu network.
