Thinking of getting a set of wheels for my ride. Wondering if rim size 17 x 8 inch with a 255/40R17 will fit on the back end without any dramas. Any of you gurus out there have an idea if there's gonna be chaffing?? If it does, can I get the problem fixed and where do I do it? Questions, questions...Cheers

And why do you want to fit larger wheels/tyres to the rear of a FWD car?? You'd be getting very
bad handling characteristics.

did you mean 225 or 235?

if so, 235 fits no worries

The fronts are a 17x7 with a 235/45R17 and the back comes with the wider 17x8 with 255's. If it scrapes, I'll have to get the tyres changed me thinks. Is there any other way to fit the 255 in?

Again, I ask why on a FWD car???. You'll need to increase the offset of the wheel but by no more
than 25mm and flare out the guards as the tyres cannot protrude the guards. As I mentioned in
my first post, it'll drive like **** around corners etc. You are better off fitting 235's on the back as
well.

Thanks for all the advice chaps.

The wheels just came that way so I guess changing the 255's down to 235's is the way to go. Will it look awkward for the same size tyre to be on a wider rim though?

Incidentally, the offset is 35 so I shouldn't have a prob.

Cheers

The tyres on the wider wheel wouldn't be as saggy looking. But shouldn't be a big problem.

shouldnt a 17x7 run a 225/50 anyways? 17x8 235/45 is spot on
