they look fairly low range, but for $168, thats pretty damn good. good amplification would make these sound fairly sexy, especially if you push that "80rms"

Lol Autosalon, I found that the "special show" prices at the Strathfield van were especially jacked up especially for the event.

sorry but how do u tell that it is low range??

i am a nutcase in terms of car audio...

i really just want a simple system.... with amp though...

COULD ANYONE SUGGEST WHAT KINDA SETUP I SHOULD HAVE??????
I would like to have the following:

- 1 sub
- amp
- replacing the stock speakers (front with splits)...

i have just seen quite a few pioneer speakers, they are in EVERY damn car audio shop, and they look like the lower range of the pioneers that i have seen.

I know not many people talk about this brand, but check fusion for budget bass. They have good prices for the stuff you get. Powerplant stuff is good, encounter is cheaper and looks better, but is lower quality sound.
I would go Fusion over sony, pioneer, kenwood or other lower end brands any day of the week.
For splits i'd check out cadence, pioneer, kenwood maybe fusion, not sure.
Don't spend too much on rear fill, just get a set of 6" two ways. Usually ppl fade to the front at about 3/1 or 2/1.

Gotta fly.

for bass, fusion is the one to go for.......

splits: have a listen to a set of eclipse splits, they are pretty damn good

Pioneer over kenwood anyday.

Have fusion FPS652 in the front and they almost have more bass then my sony 6x9's, when amped i think they will kill my sony's.

I've just installed the Kenwood 6X9 2 Ways in the rear roof of my TR Wagon.

They sound like crap. I'm not happy with them at all.

They don't handle any decent power levels, and I'm only running them off the deck ! :(

That could be the deck's lack of power, you could well be sending a clipped signal to the speakers and killing them.

KB has a good point. My JL 6x9's where distorting at about volume 27 (pioneer deck), amplified them (kenwood 4 chan) and they cranked up to 37+ without any distortion. Plus amp give extra control.
