hi
Im planning on putting a set of extractors on my 99 model TH Magna 3.5L, and ive found two possibles. one is the pacemaker priced at $600 fitted and the other from anthony i think at philcom saying hes got the RPW Race set for $660 delivered+ im not sure how much labour. Is anyone able to help me make decision on this plz, and the pros and cons on both if at all possible thnx

The RPW "Race" series extractors have larger diameter primary pipes than the Pacemaker extractors. In theory this means they will flow more for higher power applications. They also have longer primaries which should 'tune' them better for low range torque, possibly at the expense of top end power.

You'll have a hard time finding hard evidence to compare on whether one out performs the other. For the average user there is unlikely to be a whole lot of difference though.

Oh, the RPW items come with everything to bolt straight up, where as the pacemakers need a cut and weld job on the factory flex pipe to fit.

For myself, I bought the RPW extractors and have had no problems with them at all. But I've never had Pacemakers so I don't have anything to compare to.

yeh thnx its a manual. and im surprised to here that the pacemakers have to be modified cause ive been told that they are a straight in job aswell lol.

Unless they've changed the design... otherwise they don't include a full flex pipe setup, unlike the RPW headers.

Don't get me wrong though, it's like a 15 minute job for an exhaust place to weld on a couple flanges to bare pipe and bolt everything together.

You'll be fine :) Plenty of people here have Pacemakers and no one's been disappointed yet. Just be realistic with your expectations.

I had a manual TH sports with Pacy's and cat back. On the dyno day it made more power than most, only a Ralliart and a VRX beat it.

Extractors are extractors, Pacy's vs RPW. Do you really want to pay more for a product that 'supposably' has more power?

To anyone here has anyone seen a Pacy vs RPW dyno sheet? I havent so I reckon the claim RPW makes that there better is unfounded.

true.. but soon the most powerful magna won't be one with paceys :P unless Jasons VRX pulls something out of his hat in the next week...

My motor is being built at the moment (by me).... and as for RPW overpriced S**t, well we wont go there will we. Unless ya like wasting an extra $200-300 for maybe 2-3kws.

As for most powerful NA magna.... ive got the runs on the board for less cash than most guys spend on a set of wheels and tyres. :bowrofl:

Yeah, you do all your work yourself, including a lot of your parts fabrication. We're not all that clever :P

My engine is having its build up at the mo too.. good to see we're both aiming at the same sort of power numbers :D Hopefully my car gets finished first so I can be Most Powerful N/A for at least a day lol

Yours will be finished first as ive just started a new job this week, so finding time to do work on my engine is going to be hard for the next couple of months.

So i'll let you take the glory for a few months :D

I may have to come up your way when i get my engine finished and have some holidays, so we can run your car and my car on the dyno and dragstrip together. :P
