Anyone tried to fit power windows to a model that didn't come with them standard? Someone I know did this with a VT Commo and the dealer stung him about $1,200 to do it (including changing the door trims). I'm not going to blow $1k + on windows but seeing as I'm planning on re-trimming my door trims, would it be worth to sort it out at the same time? :?

to fit power windows to an exec - which i think is the only model that didnt come with them - such a changeover requires - new dorr trims for all four doors, new electric motors for all four doors, lotsa hours of re-wiring to get it all to work.

wasnt worth the effort for me - i would like to do it - and if i can find a TH magna in a wreckers with all four doors intact with power windows i will approach the guy to get them - but unless i can do it that way - i am not gonna bother!!

u dont have to get new door trims...u can get a 4 way controller thatll sit sumwhere in the centre console...but then rear ppl cant down their windows which would suk!

yeah you can do that bu then you are left with ugly holes in the door trims frm removing the window winder and also the stump that the winder was on!!

the door tris from a car with to a car without power windows are completely different!!

i had a quote to do just the front doors as power.. leavein the rear ones as winders, he reckon 700fitted for the both front doors to be powered, and the switch could be where i want...

my guess would be just below my gearstick where the coin thinggi is.. not the deep one, the two lil things....

i thought bout doin it, but 700 goes a long way as far as proformance mods go :P

BOOYA.

Im not bothered with power windows, sure electrics would be nice but really its not hard to wind up wind down.

My next magna / verada will have the works. My uncle just hopped into a new Verada GTV and he has the GPS nav option. Very impressed, i might just tick that myself when i hop into mine.

Did you fit that aerial yourself, or factory fitted?

I've been meaning to get some costs for a power aerial but haven't got around to it yet.

I fitted the arial myself after i snapped mine - i was just extending it!! and i extended it beyond its limit!! oops!! but oh well - marlows - electric arial - 120 bucks - takes about 45-60 minutes to install - u gotta pull out the back seats to run the power cables to the centre unit - i put the wiring through the tunnerl on the sidestep - easy to do!!

much more effective - and now i can hear it go up and down!!

mine is just an exec so there is no power anything except steering!! i am slowly upgrading it though!!

A little story about my day for you all:

I slept in this morning, which meant that I missed out on a parking spot in the carpark where I work, leaving me to park on the street. No Probs I work in Nedlands (A Nice rich mostly residential suburb in Perth), just parked under a nice shady tree in a nice quiet street.

I read this thread when I first got into work this morning thinking, yeah, I wouldn't mind getting a power aerial but its way down the list of priorities...maybe one day. Just got back from lunch where I went to move my car from the 2 hour parking zone it was in only to discover some bastard had snapped my aerial off

To top that off, I had parked within about 5 mm of a high kerb and a couple of other cars had boxed me in leaving me to scratch the F#*k out of my hub caps trying to get out.

I guess the good side of my pissed off mood at the moment is that at least I didn't have nice expensive alloy rims like most of you guys, and now I have a reason to go buy a power aerial. :?

now THAT sucks.

What is it with these people that have no respect for other peoples things

They ought to have their legs snapped just like they snapped your aerial.
Well thats what i'd do if i found them anyway.. Unless they were big.. or had weapons.. then I'd run like a girl.

Ok i'm not so tough after all.

I have a message for the bloke who decided to help himself to my sound gear in my old TS.

How bout you come over to my place, and i'll remove your testicle? Then we can sit down and have a good chat about taking things that arnt yours.

If i caught someone doing something like that to my car, i would have to give them a good beating with my shoes. Have some respect people :P
