Hey all. In my TN 88 i have NO internal Fan. This sucks as im trying to get the vechile Registered and i need this working to get the rego. When i move the fan on switch nothing happenes. like there is no power. I have checked the Fuses and the Relays and they all seem ok. Im starting to think it might be the Switch or the fan motor itself. How can i check this?? does anymore know of some testing methods i can use as i have spare parts from other TN that got smashed in the front and its fan works. so i can rip the broken part out of the other car. Any ideas guys???
Thanks
Jeff
My old man's TN had the same prob... he just ripped off the facia unit from another TN that was working... ****e job.. but good results.. time to see a wrecker :P

there is a fan relay coil resistor in the fan motor that or the fan motor itself is not working
to get to it ther is a panel under the glove box ..remove that look for 2 small square plastic covers 3 screws to undo ant you will get to the fan motor the coil resister is a little furthur in held in by 2 screws undo them look for broken wires on that coil ther are 3 for your information might only be that resister
i use wire a length of wire from the battery and an earth wire to test if that fan motor works it has a wire connector there somwhere
wow your keen if you want to pull out the one that works and swap them over
now i know where to start had the new resistor for months didnt know where to put it

can you order the resistor pack from a general auto parts store?

I checked the resistor pack in the bottom of the Fan unit and it looks ok.. I have had previous problems with that resistor pack on the TP Elante but its ok in this car. But still no FAN at any speed on the switch. This is very annoying. Where can i run a battery wire to the fan unit to see if the motor itself works? Where is the power wire for it? I will try testing it that way.I am gonna pull the Fan motor outa the smashed car today b4 if goes to the wrecker. This is pissing me off..

Before you start digging too far.
My TN, the fan only works on speed 3 and 4, 1 and 2 are dead.
I presume it is the switch and that previous owners used 1 and 2 mostly and it has been worn down "somehow".
See if you can just wire it up to a switch if you only want it for rego, unless they state that it must be the original switch.
Good luck

i guarantee you prob is the resistor block not the switch

why is the interior fan need for roadworthy? wouldnt it just be listed as an accessory?
