i got the tv and the ps2 in the car, i got a price for the tuner, it was like $400, does anyone know where i might be able to get 1 cheaper?

keep in mind that the TV setups for cars can be dodgy in the sense that the quality can be pretty 'average' or when in motion, BELOW AVERAGE!

so you have been warned.. haha. unless you have a Boomerang Antenna on the boot of ya car, it can be pretty ugly picture :S

i went down to my dealer today and got quotes stupid 500 bucks for an external tv tuner

1 for a dvd/cd/mp3/fm/tv 7" tft 2000
2.dvd/mp3/fm/cd no screen 590 4x40w > in dash 7" unit brings it up to 1200
3.clarion dvd/mp3/tv/fm 7" tft 3700
4.pioneer in dash no screen 1666 4X50 < motorquip said they would beat that so did tonkins.

Im looking at gettin #2 but they arent getting that unit for 3 weeks , ive seen the pictures and it looks great and doesnt have pos generic labeling all over it.

MAKE SURE WHEN YOU GET THE TV TUNER YOU GET THE ANTENAE INCLUDED IN THE PRICE!

i wont worry then, ppl cant get tv at there homes around my area, so theres probably not much chance of me getting it in the car unless i put my big T wing back on aswell! lol

If you dont mind CHUNKY, you could always try and find a 12v Video recorder... Normally used in Caravans and campervans.. They play VHS and have a tunner..
The it is a matter of ou putting it to the Screen.
On ebay I can recommend a 7" LCD from this guy...
They are EXCELLENT in Picture quality and I shall have some real world working pics of one as soon I have finished installing it.
The one draw back with these is hat they are Ford OEM ones.... meaning that they are loose and NOT in cases... But the picture quality and resolution is fantastic.

are they hard to install ?

i know headrests for the vrx are only around 60 bucks (thats just when i was asking mitsi i didnt bargain or look around) so if i screw up an install its not a BAD BAD thing :)

Back to the topic, I'm confused. So is this unit independant of a computer (i.e. doesn't need one), so you can just watch TV on a computer LCD/SVGA monitor?

No computer needed!
Plug it into an LCD or CRT or TV directly...

According to those specs the only video output is a 15pin VGA connector which isn't going to work all that well for an in-car LCD which only has a composite input.

But I beleive that Booya has a STD 15" LCD that he wants to use it with.

i got myself a clarion one with in built tuner and i have the ps2 hooked up to it as well and it runs sweet except for every now and then when i get interferance when driving
