Do you need to support the engine in any way when your removing the front engine mount on a 4 cyl? Or will the other mounts support the engine okai?

Get a jack with a piece of wood on top of it...and just put it under the sump so it's, not pushing it but, just taking the pressure the other mount would have.

This is what I did when I changed my mounts (one at a time too!) and it worked a charm.

No damage to the sump either.

Yes - support the engine when removing the motor mount.

As Killbilly suggests.

which mount has to be replaced i found it easer to undo both sides this give you more lifting space esp for the passenger side they cost heaps i bought one from repco and then had to find a place to press it in .... that cost more now the mount has let go ..the rubber didnt stick to the metal it didnt break just slips right though the metal mount and now i need to get another one
the drivers side is easy take off the wheel and find the 4 holes and bolts that hold the mount on and undo the off at the gear box

weird question guess ill give u a weird answer. now u said " do i need to support the engine in any way when ur removing the front engine mount" short answer NO cos u could let it hang there and break the rest of ur mounts.but like all things theres a right way and a wrong way for example u dont need a jack to take a tire off u just undo the nuts and kick it it'll come off. so in other words use common sense . if u take away somthing that helps keep a few hundred kilos in place its a good idea to use a jack and a bit of wood to make sure u dont wreck ur other mounts or anything else in the engine grain.
