tonkins has the following package.

EA4000 Amp, SW 6123.4 Sub and SC8264 Splits for $879

I was planning on going for focal polyglass splits $300, the same amp $400 and a undicided sub for about $200 ($900 total).

what do you guys think of the eclipse splits and the amp.

I am not after extreme volumes, just nice clear sound with tight bass.

cheers guys

Tough call, I like their subs but never really heard their splits. I'd probably continue looking at other gear, just my opinion. Wait till tomorrow (or later today, not sure what time it is) and you'll get a few more responses.

Yeah I like the sound of eclipse gear, heard a guys stereo recently had a full eclipse setup and it sounded really warm, quite a contrast to the full alpine setup you see quote often which is quite cold and clinical.

i can vouch for sub and splits......splits sound really clear, however i think i am gonna get another sub the same because at high volume the splits and 6x9's still sound really clear and nice while the bass is lacking and sub is starting to distort (working to hard maybe)

this is my whole system so far:
Eclipse CD5444
Eclipse EA3422 x 2
Eclipse SW6123.4
Eclipse SP8992
Eclipse SC8264

Eclipse gear is awesome stuff, have it in my Ralliart. (see my profile)

The only thing that upset's me about Eclipse is that they don't offer anything like their US model 39011 DSP for sale here in Australia.

Two very different sounding pairs of splits I would say, you'd need to listen to them both - each would suit a different musical taste.

Well.. This is kind of a hard question to answer, when picking audio gear, you really have to let your ear lead you, Eclipse is decent gear and the only thing between models would be 1. sound quality and 2. power ratings.

All the gear is top qual stuff so don't worry about construction quality just listen to them both and compare with your own test cd, thats what i did and my MB's blew everything else away, pioneer pro's and PG and personally, focals, everything they had really. Also, if you don't want crankin' tunes then don't buy top-line 10000WRMS splits but remember, the more up the range you go the better materials and frequencies the speakers will respond to.

Focal and Eclipse are top **** so just listen to a whole heap and see which you like the best, each and EVERY different type of speaker has its own tune, some warm some sharp and some lacking so you just have to pick what type of music your mostly listening too and then make a test cd (one track or something) and go rip up some audio stores.

I think i will skip the deal. I was always going to just build it piece by piece anyway, and the deal is not really all THAT cheap, so i will stick to the plan.

How much should i expect to pay for those eclipse splits anyway?
