Although the TE ashtray / cig lighter is different, its mountings are the same. Unclip the console part around the gear lever, revealing two screws under the ashtray. Remove those and pull to remove the ashtray assembly from its top two clips. Did you find this:

Okay so perhaps they're not there, or they're missing. Either way its about removing the internal ashtray and firmly pulling the frame away from two top clips - as in the guide.

yep, but the ashtray will not pull out. my ashtray is not the same as the one in the tutorial. mine has the lighter inside it also. it will not just pull out without breaking something i think ?

This pic is from the manual - it shows your ashtray (full width drawer with lighter inside) and it indicates only two metal clips on the top edge... unless some previous owner has super glued it in or somesuch, its really a grasp and pull situation, as per the guide.

With mine, i remove the covering around the gear selector.
Slide out the ashtray.
Grab hold of the lower console (the bit the ash tray came out of)
And pull.
If it's the first time it has been removed it will take a bit of effort.
Edit - If its the ash tray your having trouble getting out. When you slide the ash tray out, a flap will lift up aswell, push that down and continue to slide the ash tray out.
Hope this helps

 I GOT IT. the ashtray comes out with part of the console. it does not come out on its own. after sliding the ashtray out as far as it would go i grabbed on the console it sits in and yanked it and out the lot came. how i hate cars
Thanks everyone for the help

I think the only difference is when you get to the climate control part, even then i don't think it's that different.

Yes pretty much with one exception - the manual air controls have a second cable that runs behind the glovebox. Best to unhook that as per the top vent cable instructions. If you don't you run the risk of moving the cable in its mount when you pull the centre section out - this results in not being able to close off the fresh air intake properly and your aircon won't be so effective. Pic re glovebox removal below.
Also - if you have a Passenger side airbag, be careful unclipping the wiring connector from the glovebox lining if you remove that. Remove the whole connector and its holder in one unit from the glovebox lid, don't break the wiring connection.
