Hi guys, Just wondering what Ignition Leads people recommend or don't recommend.

I've seen a few brands around and was wondering what people's experiences were.

What's good, what's better, what to look for in good leads, what leads are great cost heaps but are probably overkill, etc.

P.S. If you picked "Other..." in the Poll, please explain why / state which brand/model you would recommend.

Thanks guys.

I prefer Magnecors, I have had good results from them on a number of vehicles.

However from an Audio standpoint, they have been known to pick up some inductance to the electrical system... eg Engine noise.

Not all cars, but some required a change of leads and then they were fine.

Hmmm, 80 views, 10 votes on the poll and 1 reply. I guess leads may be one of those just get a good set, there much the same kind of things.

I may be able to get a cheap set of Bosch Supersports so may just get these.

Thanks to those who voted/replied. :)

What does "oversized" mean (are we talking about the 6mm, 8mm, etc. measurement?)
...and what are the benefits ?

it was so long ago when i enquired

i think the magna ones are 6or 7mm??? the top guns were 8mm im pretty sure

they increase the power of the spark

Generally oversized handle more current ensuring more even and stronger sparks. You probably won't notice much difference. But the cost difference is usually SFA and it won't be bad for your car to go one size larger.

Usually you'd only go majorly oversized if you were running a supercoil or something. Mind you I've seen supercoils melt stuff hahaha

yeah i think bigger leads would only achieve any benefit if you had an engine/components that needed greater/stronger spark to power it.

Ive got NGK 7mm leads on my car... i think provided you just get a good brand it shouldnt matter that much. There isnt much difference in the size of the leads, isnt the 6,7,8,or9 mm just the insulation , eg, if i had an overly worked engine where the engine bay would get to extreme high temps i would go 10mm, however, on a standard car 6 or 7 would suffice?

I know my fiancees camry still has the standard leads on it and they are only 4mm... same with my friends soarer v8, it only has 4mm leads...
