I have less damage than that on my 3rd gen I will need to fix and the quoted amount for repair was probably about the same, if not just a bit more than $600. That is the reality of panel repair these days... it costs lots unfortunately. I doubt you will do much better than $600 unless you can source the replacement parts yourself and get someone to do a decent spray job... but don't go too cheap or you will most probably end up regretting it.

Good luck!

You can get a second hand bonnet and bar but then they still need to be painted and buy then it will blow out to $600.. i dont think thats a bad price.. the only other option is you try and find a bonnet and bar a similiar colour and dont paint them.. least the car wikk be two tone then..:P :D

go to jolly roger in greens rd they got sh!tloads of 2nd gens probably the same color. you could take the bumper off and push it out.

just leave it as it is, its not structual so dont worry about it.

2nd hand bonnet, same colour. Wouldn't be hard as there was plenty of that colour around.

Pull the bar off...heat it up with a heat gun and it'll pop back to shape.

And you'll be set!

yup, just get is as best you can as cheaply as you can. its not worth a 1000 dollar new bonnet/bumper and repaint from a pannel shop.

If its not structural its not really important! Don't end up paying HEAPS.... if it ends up at 1k (which i think it will) thats like 20% of the value of the car...

But what do YOU want? do you want it to look as new or just get the worst out or near enough is good enough.

I remember when I was getting mine quoted the person doing the quote tried to talk me out of it by saying "why bother fixing that when you might end up hitting someone straight after and have to get it fixed anyway"... the logic doesn't quite work on me.

At the end of the day, only you know what you want to settle for.

id try to do some home diy anyhow on it before you pay someone else to either do it or to buy new parts, just a tip.

its just deciding to do or not, is not much of a damage to the car buts the apearance of it.

also, is the rest of the cars body work and paint in good nick?
i would first weight up the options of spending money to fix this car, when it could be put towards maybe an upgrade to the V6.

if the cars paint and panels seem ok, and you dont mind keeping the car for a year or more, then yeah, save up and fix it, but if not i just wouldnt worry about it for the time being and maybe have a look for the V6

I really wish my car was Blue not Silver, i wanna do some mods with this car, but i dunno if its worth it, this car 3-4 years old, unless i just wait for my next car, til i do the mods.

dude best thing to do is jus leave it as it is. jus save up and drive round till next year and get a 3rd gen coz every year magnas go cheaper. jus find out why ur car is chewing so much petrol and get that fixed instead.

but if u wanna make this into sumting special then do it but do ur research first.

Pull the bar off...heat it up with a heat gun and it'll pop back to shape.

Leave the bar ON and heat with a heat gun (VERY GENTLY) and it will generally pop without removing the bar

i did something similar in my car,
i bent the steel bumper bar behind the plastic one (10mins with hammer had that fixed)
i bent the radiator support panel (once again, pulled everything off it, 10 mins with a hammer and it was all good)
i epoxied up the mount on my headlight (*borrowed* the epoxy from work so that was cheap enough)
bought a new corner lamp from the wreckers ($22)
the bonnet was bent about half way up, but a mate gave me a hand to bend that back into shape (good as new)
the only thing that needs doing now is some sanding, some bogging and some painting =) (the joys of having a spray painter for a father in law =P)

so on that note, i think that if you have some basic tools (hammer, socket set and spanner set), there is no way its worth $600.

good luck =P

agree with zackts, check out wreckers for a secoind hand bonet in same colour and maybe even a bumper, but only after trying 2 pop it urself. the paint will not match perfectly, but if you get it resprayed it wont either, thats life. also, if it costs you a bit of dosh for the new parts, think of how the value of your car is affected by the damaged front end. it is probably worth it, although maybe not $600, but who am i to say how much its worth i have no idea. but a replacement bonnet isnt hard at all, you should only need a socket set and a mate to hold it in place for you, [and maybe a trailer to get it home with =)

Did i miss something... looks naffed to me, i think hitting it with a hammer wouldnt help... if hitting a pole didnt? jokes... how long has it been out in the weather? buying a new bonnet is an easy option... trying to panel beat it yourself you may get thoes nasty wrinkle marks... poor magna

I'd say just pay the $600 and get it done. Saves all the buggerizing around that you'd have to do.

That's my 2c...

You do not hammer and bog bonnets, they get hot and the bog will lift, the bonnet will also look crap from inside.

By the time you bog it, you will pay about 60 bucks from jolly rogers for a replacement and may even get a matching colour

I agree with pretty much everyone else, just look for a same color bonnent and front bar. Sure you can try bang it out and stuff, but it will still look dodge, and I think $200 or less for 2nd parts would be better than a $600 re-fixed bonnet and front end. Yeah sure the bonnets fine with the major dint in it, it'll still look dodge when it's fixed, just find a 2nd hand one.

Eriks, bonnet has actually had a dodgey over the top, it has been resprayed poorly, shocking match to the rest of the car, and over the top of the previous paint, no sanding or anything.

so i would get another bonnet TRY for the same color, if not get one sprayed, but his bonnet would need a bit of work atm.

mate if i was you go wreckers buddy and have a feild day:D

dont take this the wrong way but we are helping you SAVE money. my car was a write off. over 1750 or some stupid price to fix. but 2nd hand doors and some other panel beating im up to bout 850~900 dollars. you could get the bonet pannel beated but it would be dearer than getting a second hand one.

It's all pretty straight forward. invest in a gregorys or haynes manual ($20 on ebay) and do it yourself. Usually with bumpers and sh!t it's a couple of bolts here and there and it just pops off.

once you get yourself a gregorys or haynes ou should be set.

Eric
have a look at the manual
go to a Jolly rojers on Greens road (dandy)
and see what is there and get some prices
you'll need help with the bonnet but thats it. Everything else is a one person job
and can't your dad help you?? (bonding moment)

Hey guys, I finally made my mind and now I have decided to fix my front end,
its been 2 long now since I damaged I should've done straight away but i'll be doing during tax time , when I get the money that is 1st thing I will be doing, I can't bare for my car to look like this anymore, its been 8 months since I damaged in that parking house in Dandenong and I want a decent looking car again, every time I drive I feel like I don’t want to drive it anymore because its so ugly looking – so its settled fixed at Tax Time in 4 Months Time
