I've searched the site and haven't found any posts on this one...

I want to add a cargo blind to my existing barrier. The manual says I can. The barrier even has the spring-loaded flaps for it.

I've forked over $254 to the Mitsubishi dealer to order a blind because I couldn't get one secondhand locally. Now they're telling me I need to hand over another $50 for a fitting kit!

Does anyone here have any constructive advice, please?

That sounds about right. I had to pay extra for the clips to add the blind to the barrier.

All i can say in regards to a barrier is dont accept it if it squeaks. The only reason they rattle and squeak is because they havent been installed properly. I told the guy who installed mine that i wont pay for it if it rattles and he said he guarantee's me it wont. Been 2 years and havent had a single rattle from it.

Thanks FamilyWagon :)

The barrier was a fixture to the car when we bought it. It rattled, but I took it out, greased up the rubbers (oh god you guys are gonna have a field day with that one :doubt: ), added some bike tubing, put it back and it doesn't rattle any more. :D

As for the blind...why don't they just be honest and quote $304 to add it to the barrier?

Here's an update for the benefit of anyone else who might want to do the same thing.

Mini saga...

Went to the dealer to pick up the blind. Spare parts guy kindly removes it from the box. Only the blind comes out. "But there must be instructions", says I shaking the box - apparently not hard enough because they fall out later.

Spare parts guy kindly carries blind to car and finds the two loose end pieces for the belt line trim won't go into the cargo barrier flaps and comes to the conclusion the blind won't fit - so I was asked to pay upfront to order the fitting kit. $54.

Curiosity got the better of me when I arrived home. I was sitting in the back of the car trying to work out how the fitting kit would work when I spy the end of the blind and notice it's the same shape as the hole on the flap on the barrier. Ding! Ding! Blind just pops onto the barrier without the end pieces. :dancin:

I'm always telling my kids you learn something new every day and I learnt about the belt line trim today. Oh and I think I'm smarter than the spare parts guy.
