ok here i go . . . . . .

in the past month i have had to replace the alternator and timing case.

and after the timing case has been fitted the car has been acting strange with when i start the car the revs go way up and the only way to stop it is to turn off the engine so i do that 10 times then it goes back to normal by itself. and then sometimes on a cold start the car just moves by itself like this morning when i was reversing the car just took off reversing in reverse and the brake didnt work so i had to use the hand brake. then when i take off and do say 60 the car wants to do 70 +

so any ideas why my car does this?

Had this problem with my 3rd gen to this day. She'll occasionally on startup do its normal jump to 2k rpm only to stay there and not drop :O

Checked afew things while this was happening,

1) Throttle cable, give it a good quick tug, but doubt this would be the problem
2) Give your TPS (throttle position sensor) a bash, the plug under your throttlebody.
3) Flowed your TB too much?? :bowrofl:

Funnily enough I had my best mate and my mechanic there the day it happened, only to decide we were just going to drive her home, after building up the courage to slap the car from Park @ 2000rpm into reverse, I did so only for the car to go back to normal. Has been for past month funnily enough.

Basically for your car to want to move at 60-70 it has to be getting a substancial amount of air, try find out were its coming from..
