i hear alot about people having these cannon rear mufflers on there cars. personally i dont go for them cos they sound cheap. Are they in fact cheap and what kinda performance can ya expect to get out of one v's a factory sports muffler or otherwise?

a normal muffler of straight through design will flow the same, and therefor perform the same, but the normal muffler will be quieter for sure and have a much better note.

i would get a straight through 2.5 inch muffler on the rear, stock piping, remove the mid muffler and install a hot dog resonator in its place.

dont buy them new though, go to a performance shop and see what they have removed from cars, you should be able to buy a perfect clean looking muffler and ressy for around 30-50 all up. then just another 50 to have both installed and you should have a nice sounding car.

it wont increase power much at all though, maybe a kw at the engine if your lucky.

Some of the cannons i have heard of late sounds like a fart! My opinion is that they look s h i t and it compliments the wank factor. Each to their own they say...

i drive a tj sports series 2 and i went to the exaust shop just to enquire about what i can do with the exaust,as is the sports has a very nice note for factory so i wanted to see what i could do with it.anyway the guy at the exaust shop, when i asked him about cannons he said he wouldent do it said it was pointless and it sounds better the way it is he said he could put a different muffler on it but there wasent much point as it already has a good system for that car.arent these places ment to try and make me buy things

are you for real?

Absolutely.
I've got 4-2-1 extractors, into a 3" high-flow cat. Then it's a 2.5" press bent from the cat back, then right where the left wheel is it's split into 2x 2.25" pipes, with 2 sports mufflers and twin DTM tips.
Cost me about $750 all up. I like it way way better than the old milo tin i had. Sounds better and damn it's loud. I did lose a fair bit of low down torque, but the car certainly gets a decent kick above 3000rpm. The car just loves to rev and rev all the way to redline.
Sometime after new years i'm having a custom set of stainless steel 4-1's with really short primaries and 2" pipes to maximise top end power.

im gonna disagree with u all,

all the magna's i have heard with cannons (my exhaust, synergy, under8d, silncr's) sound quite tuff and have a very nice note, when i go on cruises ( import based cruises) alot of ppl come up to me out of no hwere and say they think it sounds really nice,

i did have a luckey muffler on there and it sounded nice but it just didnt have that very deep burble that the cannon has,

i dont think cannons r ricey at all, its more so the way that u fit it is ricey i think, for example ppl having them facing out sideways, aslong as u dont try make the cannon a focal point by drawing lots of attention to hit by having it siudeways or excessively lower than the car i think they look fine.
