Ok guys, plan on selling my car very soon, what i wanna know is:
- Should i leave it as is?
- Take off the custom parts (eg. TS boot garnish, which is rare, the wing, mags, k&n and sell it all seperately), then sell the car as a whole
- Wreck the damn thing
It's on 299,145 kms as we speak, so close to the big 3 0 0. What are your opinions guy?

I'm thinking of selling it for $2k without all the crap on it, is this a fair price? I know it has high kms, but the engine is running beautifully (i reckon previous owner has recoed or replaced it) as my mechanic and some people reckon that its one of the best astrons they've heard.
Thing is regulary serviced.
I have a sports muffler and tip on it, but wont be seperating that.
I have already taken the CAI off.
Like i said, any opinions, i'm more than happy to hear them, even if it is "burn the thing, i hate it!" lol though i would get more insurance payout :P.

*EDIT
I've included some links to comparison photos for you

I find it hard to imagine someone buying it with the wing on it. So that'd be the first thing I'd do.

To sell it for 2k youre gonna need to respray the boot at least as the crazing and missmatched colour will be a real turnoff.

As for removing any of the other stuff.. Well the person buying it wont really know much about the add-ons youve put on, so turn it back to stock and sell the other parts separately.

Your car looked its best when it was stock, right down to the original hubcaps. (when you first got it)

To give you an idea of how much to expect. We will be selling Jo's car for $2500 - $3000. Her car has 115,000km's on it, the paint and interior is as new, it all matches, comes with 16" mag wheels with decent rubber, lowered, tint, strut brace, sway bars etc etc.

*edit* I voted for take all the **** off it

yeah, those hubcaps rock \m/

as they said^^^^....you wont find many people after all the crap on the car, so if you sell it seperatly, you'll make more money.
you could sell the car for 2K...wing you'd get $150-$200, mags well there's a few hundred there, the K&N you could still get about $50 for...dunno how much you'd get for the garnish.

take a look @ harro's car, he was trying to sell it for around the 2K mark, but since no-one was interested he decided to wreck it and with all the stuff he's done to it, he'd stil get about 2K back anyway......

i got dibs on the wing :D

edit*..wow you really tormented that number plate, l@@k @ how its weathered over the years

hope you gonna buy another magna
Yeh, was thinking of buying a statesman or even a commodore (VT) but you just cant beat the value of a magna, looking at getting a TH/TJ 3.5L :).

The garnish would worth more to someone who has a standard blue TR, as i dont think you can get the blue in the TS's, so it's very rare (could be one of a kind, i dunno).
I'll see how the poll pans out, but you guys may be seeing some EOI threads popping up soon :P.

ONLY if you could prove that it wasnt deliberate, Im certain that they would be interested to know your "thoughts" on the insurance payout, as discussed in here!

mods dont increase a cars value. if you can be bothered, just pull off the more expencive items and try hock them off here for a few extra dollars and to make the car more sellable.

agree with turbo charade, advertise on ebay, carsales, carpoint local newspapers and just cars, [which has free black and white advertising, unique cars is expensive] as long as you are reasonable you will get intrest, but as turbo charade also said the mods are worth nothing to a potential buyer, the car is overcapitalised, so remove mods and advertise snartly. and always remember, why sell if you are only offered a few hundred? is it wrth selling for 2 grand if it is such a good car?

I would prefer to keep it instead of sell it for $2k, but i want to upgrade, and theres not point keeping 2 cars. The TR is perfect in every way, except for the fact that it just lacks the balls.

I just managed to sell my 95 TS for $2,400. It had 270,000km
Just try to flog it in free ad space, or if you're deserate try to find one of those minimum 2-3K trade in car yards....
good luck with sale

Ya know what? i'm almost tempted to just accept the $1000 trade in i was offered (that's true trade in value, not the $3k markup trade in crap they try to flog you).

I think you would get more if you sold it private, as i said i got rid of mine last week. use the car dealer as a last resort unless u see something u really want.
Mine was high milage but like yours it ran really well, had some minor scratches and dent but if i got rid of mine for that price im sure you could sell yours for between $1-2K but def take your mods off.

Yeh i'll definately be taking the mods off, could get nearly a grand just for them.
I think i might just try and sell it for $2500 then bring the price down to get a buyer :P.

i think you should sell the mods seperate and i might be happy to buy some :)

Is that boot garnish just a respray of a tr glx garnish?

I think if you sold it you might be able to get $2500-$3000 if your lucky, but if your not that bothered about the money then you could sell it for $2000 easy.

I'd buy the car off you with the mods but i already have a tr.

Good luck with the sale.

Thanks mate :). You cheered me up :).
The boot garnish is just a standard '95/'96 TS boot garnish, but i'm under the impression that the TS never came out in this colour, so if someone on here with a blue TR wants the coolest garnish you can get for the 2nd gen :P, it'd be good for them. I'd be happy with $2000.

**EDIT**
Also yeh it has been resprayed to be the same colour as my car.

Just take out anything that you can transfer over to your new car (rims, sound system etc) Then sell the car. Remove the wing cause people dont like to buy non stock cars. I like the wing, but I dont think others will.

Up to you. I'd try sell it before the new financial year. But the car is worth less than a new computer, so you dont really have much value to loose anyway lol.

Yeh but that's PURE trade in price, so thats how much they were willing to pay AFTER i bargained down the car i wanted.
You'll probably find that your car had less kms than mine, OR they still had roughly $1000 markup on the vehicle you were buying.
