Does anybody know if the tp 5 speed box is the same as the tr 5 speed, my mate has a tr with a noisy box and we can probably buy a whole TP cheaper than buying a box for the TR from the wreckers.
is the TR your mates got a 4 cyl? then yeah im pretty sure it would fit, they are essentially the same engine/box.

I dont know how true this is, but i heard that the 1st gen 4 cylinder tranny is smaller than the 2nd gen one.

OK gettin serious now.... i just found out that the tn/tp box is a KM210 and the tr box is a F5M31... the online magna encyclopedia leads me to believe that these boxes are one and the same, BUT....are they?????

Mitsu makes continuously running changes to many components, including gearboxes. If the model numbers are different, its a sure bet they are not interchangeable, even though the two boxes run the same gear ratios. Gen 2 boxes are better - get someone to overhaul the noisy box.
