I dont much see the point of the huge gaping 'mouth' on the thing as you'll most likely push that air back out then into the CAI... the opening on the 3" tube would work just as well and not starve the radiator of cool air. No point having bucket loads of cold air in your intake of your engine isnt staying cold cos you closed up half the radiator space.

the large intake would be a better air ram.....and theres more than enough air getting to radiator...
if you look at the std intake on the tl is fairly closed due to the bonnet blocks most of it when its closed

least its not going to point at the hot road

Instead it will be wrapping around the hot radiator?

Your right though, this is a pretty optimum place for ram air/positive pressure at speed.

I looked at this for mine and for a K/TH at least the space is very restrictive. If its doable then hey, I'm sure a lot of us will be interested :)

you mean like this, has been done and works really well. it's cheep and VERy effective. Sorry about the photos. Get some 100di flex pipe and simply squize it in. the tape in onlu there becasue i didn't like to look of the flex throgh the box. but otherwise the flex is about 60mm inside the box. You need to trip some of teh battery guard to get the pipe in and take out the radiator side cover, two bolts.

the RAM AIR effect does not take place until over 150km/h,

even at 300km/h the pressure inside the airbox is equivelant to 0.1psi.

I've made a post about this before let me find it.

heres a post from a previous thread on RAM AIR also with a link that explains ram air.

yeh imo i reckon there isnt much benefit from putting in the extra effort of doing what u are proposing when you could get the same results just having the pipe ending year the fog light cover

Yeah, but this guy is opposed to having it near the road because he is convinced it will just suck in hot air.

jobs done not as pictured but like the other pics in this thread works well very responcive above 60kmh i can feel a big differance at 4000rpm in 2nd gear it feels like it gets a power band

going for a drive tonight should be fun

Just had a closer look at this is absolutely impossible with a TE/F/H/J :(
