Ok, well i know what im getting now (thanks to a few people from AMC for helping you know who you are ;))...after i buy it all, well, somehow it has to go in, i will have a few mates over to help me...but i would still like a blueprint to copy off.

i have included in this paint drawing what will be in my system
HU
6" splits
6x9's
2 DVC JBL subs
4 channel amp
Monoblock

please forgive me, i am new to this whole thing, so dont blast me for asking such a dumb question, basically save this pic to your computer, and fill in the gaps so it makes a working audio system.

or, you can draw your own....im pretty sure i got most of it right

*EDIT* yes the Amps will be connected to 12V and earthed, i know that, sorry i left it out

thanks to anyone who can help!!!

From the looks of it you've got 1 6" running off a front, then a 6x9 off the front, then the other off the rear :P.
hehe on the amp one side will be front, one will be rear (or on top of each other) :P.

Anyway, i personally dont know, but there is a special way of wiring up the monoblock to get a 1 ohm or 4 ohm rating.

yeah the Ohmage is what gets me.....i try to soak it in but the next line of thought that comes into my head its gone.....its the only thing that stumps me.....well.....one of many things that stump me..

thanks leigh for pointing out my terrible paint skills..

Thans Mate - So does this Come Close Now (Wired in 1ohm Config)

i know theres a remote wire that connects from the HU to the Amps - Ill figure that out sooner or later

hmm, please tell me whats wrong with this BESIDES HOW ITS DRAWN!!

looks like you have too many channels for a monoblock. have another look at the wiring wizard. a monoblock only has 1 neg and 1 pos. what u have drawn is a 2 channel amp. Also depends on what ohms your amp is stable at. u should be able to wire it up for 1 ohm but just check, u may need to chuck them in series to get 4 ohm

will fix that right away - for some reason i thught there were 2 +'s and -'s on the jaycar mono

I have Tried to make it as Easy as possible and Have Color Coded the Wiring...

I have Wired the Subs in Series rather then Parralel

+ Of one Sub and - of the other are wired to the Mono Block with the remaining Positve and Negative wired together so the Mono Block Sees only 1 Speaker and Not Two..

Thank you Magnat, NOW it makes sense, ill draw that up by hand now so i get a better idea.

damn i hope not to much 0 gauge goes to waste on the Earth.

o.....subs Are DVC by the way but thats ok ;)

a few neons in there and ZOMG fully sickkk ulehhhh.................. :gtfo:

sweet mate, appreciate that a ton! thanks!

*edit, sorry you wired them in 4ohm i think....not 1 ohm......mmm getting the hang;)

my mistake

OOps forgot they were DVC's.... Still the wiring Should work... I just cannot Remember How to wire them up..

S_tim_ulate is the Best to ask About DVC's as I have only ever used Single's

Found this, This Should Help with Wiring the Subs

Okay... wiring for ohms.

for the subs in question, ther are dual 4ohm voice coils. There is 2 reasonable ways to wire them:

1) Paralleled coils, then paralleled speakers. this presents 4x 4 ohm impedences, but as everything is paralleled, you divide the 4 ohms by the 4 impedences (or ways the output of the amp can flow) so 4/4=1ohm. For a 1 ohm stable amp, this is where you are going to get max Power. However the SQ will diminish as the amp is less able to control the cone at lower impedences.

2) Series the coils on each sub, then parallel together the speakers. for each speaker, 4 ohms (1st coil) + 4 ohms (2nd coil) = 8 ohms per sub. Then using the parallel theory 8ohms (per sub) / 2 (paths) = 4ohms. The amp will be happiest at this and will be able to control the cone the best. This is desirable in a ported box (or any unsealed box) as it doesn't have that sealed airspace to 'cushion' the cone. Obviously power will be down, but remember your subs are only rated at 250W each - even though they will take quite a bit more.

3) Parallel the coils on each sub, then run the subs in series. This is exactly the same as number 2, just backward. 4 ohms (per coil) / 2 (paths per sub) = 2ohms. Series the subs together = 2ohms + 2 ohms = 4 ohms.

Assuming that each of your voice coils are a 4 Ohm impedance each, this config will have your subs wired up at 1 Ohm.

The Jaycar monoblock does have two channels... These are internally bridged in parallel.

You won't need 0ga wire either. 2ga from the battery to a splitter, and then 4ga from the splitter to the amps would be fine :) (That's what I'm running with pretty much the same setup)

Other than that, all good mate

thanks guys!!!!!

Mitsimonsta - i appreciate every time you try and explain that to me..........but i can only take in the basics for some reason.

basically i know if i wire them as travis has pointed out, it'll be rocking hardcore, but SQ will go down the drain faster then last nights curry.
and if i wire them the other way (2+2ohm?) i get better SQ but reduced SPL.

i think ill wire it the 2+2ohm way, and when i enter comps etc i can wire it up visa versa.............or should i do it the other way:S

there was a good diagram on JL audio's website i think about wiring up subs, its pretty handy.

ive used magnats one he gave me, seems to cover everything, cept i put in the remote wire to the HU, and well now its just how to wire the subs, but gee, on paper, doesnt look that hard!!!

well seems i was right about the jaycar - woo go me :) - travis's idea seems the best (not HIS idea but ya know what i mean) as well i got the subs for SPL and hell there gonna be tormented :P

just keep the ideas coming guys, the more the merrier

ill add more to this reply later

wire them up so they are louder, see how they sound, then compare that to the sql, pick whichever you think sounds better :).

i think im going to wire these in 4ohm config atm, 1ohm although it can be done, just maybe seems excessive for my application.

i will have to get my box spot on as well as with the SD or else its a waste, so yeah ill be able to sqeeze a bit more out of them but to real avail

Remote Wire Now Added... Sorry Tuff it slipped my Mind I thought it would have been natural for you to have known ... Sorry..

Remote wire can be either Split or Daisy Chained..

Daisy Chained = One Remote wire from the deck to the first amp, with a 2nd wire connecting it to the Mono Block

i had a look at some 0 gauge today, it was $29 a meter!!! ......and times that by 5 meters just for power cable, and thats almost $150 on power wire!!!! i cant justify that, and gee 2ga does not look THAT much smaller, and a whole pack including 2ga power wire, and 4ga earth wire i think was around the $150 mark.....only thing is it was AreoPro......doesnt look bad, and have been told the stinger ones come without RCA's, come with 4ga power wire, and are almost $180....so im most likely going to go with the Areopro..........any objections?

Phoenix

Yup! One BIG objection....

Power cable must be the same gauge as the ground wire....

If you use 2 ga power use 2 ga ground...

sorry, must of all been 2ga then........i did see something 4ga must of been another pack
