View Full Version : Security Systems
Howdy,
I'm interested to know what security systems people have?
Do we trust the built in gear or do we all go aftermarket alarms? Mines a TE Altera which has an immobiliser apparently, but I cant really find much about it in the book..
Cheers,
Just the standard alarm on the XR6..
Who'd want a stock white XR6 anyhow? lol
Its comprehensively insured, so i couldnt care less if it got stolen.
Got quoted around $300 installed for a CL-1500 from Auto Barn, anyone know anything about these?
Does that sound a reasonable price?

Not many people will admit what security system they have simply because people do know how to get passed certain security systems. I'll just say my security system is valued at $800.
oh yeah, fair call... maybe $300 is a bit cheap then..... :D

My security company charges ~$1000 a year for good peace of mind with my car. All worth it though if you can rest easy.

if they take it and burn it then i wouldnt be so worried

The other day, me and a mate were visiting clients. My mate had to finish writing up a contract, so he stayed in the car while I went inside. Being an idiot, I took the keys with me and locked the doors, so he was left inside the car.
He worked happily away for a while, until he got a bit hot, so he innocently unlocked the passenger side door. Bad move.
"MEEP MEEP MEEP MEEP MEEP"
I heard it from inside and sorta hoped it wasnt my car, and walked outside to find my mate laughin his ass off but trying to get the bloody thing to shut up.
Now THATS security.
