View Full Version : DEH-P8650MP wiring and Steering controls
2 part question.
DEH-P8650MP - does this have a auto antenna wire, it has a "power amp auto wire but no auto antenna wire (just wondering is it one and the same).
2 would this HU work with a magna steering wheel that comes with auto controls on the wheel and if yes, where can I get 1?
Thanks

The remote wire and the antenna wire (to make antenna go up, not the antenna signal wire that carries the radio signal) are basically the one and same. Yes, you can use it for both your amps and your power antenna. There is a limit of how many devices can be attached with volage drop, that sort of thing.
As for the steering wheel controls, I have no idea how the signal gets back to the HU (extra wiring??) and I doubt that your HU would have the facilites for volume, source & track (anything else on those buttns?) adjustment via external wire.
Anything is possible though. There may be a controller that you can plug into a bus (like an Alpine Ai-Net thing)
Next question, the pioneer head unit comes with a "dimmer (ILL)" lead, where do i put this in on the stock plug?
Thanks

ILL (illumination) will need to be wired into somewhere on the loom that provides light. I wired mine into one of the air-con lights (for the controls, not the LEDs). If you can find the illumination wire on the plug, that will do.
This will set your illumination to bright when lights are off, and dimmer at night when your lights are on so that it doesn't blind you.
Some also will make the illumination dimmer as you turn down your illumination lights.
Full instructions will be included, you just have to find a wire to tap into.
looks like im going to have fun tomorrow then.

i know the feelign of loosing your steeringwheels controls, it sucks. but has anyone tried, or even thought of wiring up the remote to your steering wheel controls?
I might just get a CD-SR100, only costs $60.
