hi guys, well ive been looking around the past couple of days at getting a new headunit for chrissy.. for myself lol
basically im sick of my DVD stacker deciding when it wants to work good and having to go to the boot to change dvd's.
soo off to my local jb hifi i went, i got talking to a very knowledgable guy who trained a few guys from the old aressound shop in brissy and has def been around the car audio scene. no he wants the sales person. he was actually in the store looking at a cheap system for his daughter. and saw me pull up out front and said mate thats a real nice magna!
anyways we were talking bout the stereo and stuff and i was like yeh i want a dvd head unit but i want it to still be decent for audio. i said i was looking at pioneer because everyone i know has had luck with their head units and it seems a safe way to go.
he suggested jvc to me and said now they are basically the same headunit just jvc doesnt look as pretty as the pioneer. - well thats what the fold out screen is for u look at it and not the head unit. so now im stuck with the decision of getting the;
Pioneer DVH - P5850MP approx - 700 http://www.pioneeraus.com.au/car_entertainment/visualaudio/dvhp5850mp/
or the JVC KD - DV6105 approx - 500

if anyone can enlighten me that would be great.

I would go the JVC. Reasons:

1. I think it looks better.
2. Ive had 2 JVC headunits and think they are one of the best value for money decks out.
3. The pioneer had better have some pretty damn good features to justify the extra $200
4. Pioneer are becoming way to common for me, I like something different! :D

Cheers
Pete

JVC, better product overall. Pioneers look stupid in my opinion too.

also forget prices pre-xmas, have a look at wat theyre clearing post xmas, coz u may find the cost diff might not b an issue during the sales (the pioneer deck could get heavily reduced). definitely best time for you would b post xmas sales, as u have the need for the unit and i'm guessin u have the cash ready! good luck :)
