I've just bought a second hand TS Magna wagon. It's a manual with the 2.6. Drives nicely and is in relatively good condition, considering I only paid $2.5k for it. I am using it as a daily driver and also to cart around stuff while I renovate my apartment. I only intend to keep it for about 6-9 months. I don't have anything against Magnas, I just don't want a wagon long term.

I've noticed two small problems so far:

1. Indicators work for a while, then stop working after about 30 seconds (i.e. indicator stays on, doesn't blink). I assume this is the flasher unit that is a problem. Where's a good place to get Mitsubishi spares in Sydney?

2. On driving in reasonably heavy traffic, I find that when I get out of the car, there is a slight but perceptible burnt rubber smell from the front of the car. Do you think this is brakes binding, or me riding the clutch too much? lol Is the clutch in a Magna particularly sensitive?

Also, can anyone recommend a reasonable mechanic in Sydney that knows Magnas?

I also get it too, but usually only in heavy traffic or if i'm braking heavily, it is definately the brakes. The stock brakes on the 4 cylinder arn't designed too well and because it's now summer, the extra heat causes them to over heat alot more easily. Best idea would probably be to upgrade to the V6 brakes, which are bolt in, but they are bigger and help disperse the heat alot better.

Cheers Guys, that makes me feel a lot better. At least I now know what the problem is. I'll just have to be a little more careful when braking. On the topic of spare parts, can anyone recommend a good wreckers for Magna stuff in Sydney (or nearby)?

Pick and Payless Auto, 57- 69 Tattersall Rd Blacktown, 9676 5055. They've got a huge selection of 2.6 2nd Gens.

My mum has a TR 2.6L auto, and she was told her cam seals are gone, nothing to worry about, this was a good 9ish months ago when she got the car, done a couple of long distance trips and still good.... nothin big to worry about... well so she was told....
