What's the best way to clean a factory installed cassette player in my TE? I do not really want to pull it out - just something simple (lazy).
Nothing came up when I searched the forum.

Get a cleaning tape (wet type). You may be able to get one from a decent audio place...

Alternatively... Replace with a CD player or get an FM modulated Stacker hooked up to it and never have to bother with Tape Chewing again..

Mate :gtfo: , I didn't ask for your opinion. I've got a tape player because I don't think my Magna is worth the cost of getting a CD player. I am quite happy with my tape player & intend to keep it. My Magna is a work car so I don't plan on spending any fancy money on it. So. if you have nothing to contribute to my question, kindly refrain from knocking me.
Oh, by the way, I did shout myself a christmas present....I bought a brand new CV8-Z Monaro. A car which craps on any Mitsu****i.
Before I am banned from the forum, thankyou Heath & Ol' Fart, I appreciate your advice & will get a wet type head cleaner. Also, thankyou magnat for your advice. As you may have guessed, I'm not in the market for a CD player but at least your are a polite individual.

Same here. I have a camry wagona s a work car and there was no way i was gonna spend money on that thing. so i looked around and found a standard camry cd/tape player out of the higher models. Just a thought, you might be able to pick up a head unit out of a verada that noone is using anymore for $50.... good thing is they fit right in and dont need to be re-wired! then you got your tape player, and a cd player aswell. :D

Breydan's Dad , if you even are a Father then I hope to God you learn some Damn Respect...
No need to Get Hostile..
We are Simply Saying that Cleaning the Tape player in a Stock TE is a Dead Sport.. Once the Tape Heads are Dirty a cleaning Tape will only make it Sound Worse..
When you use a Cleaning tape, Even a Wet Type you are risking Taking the Metallic Fillings on your tape Head through out the rest of the Deck... For $128 Upgrade to an Indash CD, Hell I have seen Work Utes That have Interiors Trashed and Consoles Slammed Still have CD players fitted to them and they Last a Hell of a Lot longer then the Factory Tape Deck...
You may Spend $128 on Cleaning Cassettes over the Next 2 Years just trying to Keep it working... Its a Dead art.. Face it the Tape Player is Dead.. Listen to the Radio or Upgrade...
Balance it out, Chewed Tapes and Messy Cleaning Every 2 weeks or a Nice Shiny indash MP3 and never worry about the Tape Getting Chewed again
Oh and By the Way, the Monaro has the Crappiest Standard Sound system of Any Sports Car out there, You should have Bought a 380 GT for the Same Money and have gotten a Much Better car Minus The Crappy Stereo, Piston Slap and Fuel Guzzling yor Monaro is going to do...
