Well at the moment, I'm still running my stock deck (kenwood deck going in soon :D), with pioneer 6x9, alpine mono amp, alpine 12" type s subs x2....

Now I went to tonkins the other day to look at sub wire, they sold me "scrap" for $5.... it's enough to re-wire the rear 6x9, and subs....

It is a bit thicker than standerd so yeah, is it worth changing the wiring for the rear 6x9 or not?.... will I notice any differance in sound quailty

Kenwood Deck??

Ok How much Power are you going to be Dumping into the 6x9's??

Stock wiring will do for upto 50 W RMS..

The Subs will definately need the Thicker wire in order to Benfit from the Mono Blocks out put..

Sorry guys, I aint the smartest at this stuff lmfao....

Specs of the deck are here.....

So realsticly the stock wiring should be thick enough?
How thick should the sub wiring be? (anything has to sound better than how dogey I got it at the moment I got both rear 6x9 runing off the rear left audio chanel on my stock deck cause I killed the right one, and sub is running high leval input from rear left chanel :$

Have you had a look at Clarions Range of in Dash Screens???
IMHO they tend to be better value for money...

So I gather your going to be running Fronts and Rears off the Deck and your Subs off the Mono Block??

I would look at Going all Speakersoff an external Amp.. then upgrading to at least 16 Gauge Wiring Through out the car from this Amp to the Fronts and 6x9's

Yeah, went to Complete Audio, and it was more of a case of impaulse buying lol....

When I got the cash I wanna upgrade to somthing like that, but I still have to pay the car off first.... *wounders if his current amp can run speakers*

Don't think it can....

http://www.alpine.com.au/products/product4.asp?id=163 <---- that's the current amp.... Can't run speakers off it, so if I was to eventually do what you sudjested, I'm just better off keepin that amp for the subs, and get another amp for the speakers

Once again, huge thanks to my g/f missks for giving me the boot install :)

So no amp for front or rears Stock wiring will be good enough for running of the Deck..

sweet, has fairly good sound quailty as it is, but cuts in and out alot dur to my deck being shaged and dogey wiring loom....

So how thick should I go for subwire, I don't know what gauge the stuff that Tonkins gave me is.... IMO it's what I would probally use for speaker wire, but it is thicker that what I currently have which isn't hard to beat....

Can see in the above pic how thin the sub wire is.... comperd to what I got (can get pics if people want me to)

Was told at to upgrade my power cable as most the sound quailty comes from the power cable which makes me think maybe a better battrey would make it better too?

At the moment the wiring kit is liek a $20 one from super cheap cause thats all I could afford at the time, Autobarn was trying to sell me a 8 gauge wiring kit (subwire thin as whats allready there tho) which has a replacment battrey termenal (which will be good cause all strans of wire will be in contact then), thick RCA leads, and fuse + fuse holder (cant rember the brand they said it was a good brand) for $180 or $160 :s lol....

ha i hope my manager doesnt see this post but DONT get the wiring kist from SCA, they are 8ga and under and really weak, only a 200W kit.........BUT

we have the rampage gear which IMO is pretty good value, you get 4ga power wire, RCA's, ground wire, i think most of that crap for like $70 ?

you might want to check that range out........

definatly go AT LEAST 4ga power wire

Just thinking if most the sound quailty comes from the power cable, don't want cheap nasty ****.... I got quoted from a QLD for 0 gauge wiring, $190 for fur power wire and fuse and fuse holder :p

dood i wouldnt worry about 0ga...........im going 2ga as its enough, and at hifi supermarket 0ga was $29 a meter so im sure you could get a better deal then $190.

im getting a 2ga power wire "kit" which comes with everything besides the dist. block and the 4ga.

0ga is excessive IMHO, maybe some audio buffs might differ?

your running the same system as me, almost, so id say 2ga is enough, still plenty of grunt, just without the pricetag.

and try and get the thickest possible wire you can afford, especially with wires, you dont want to go cheap now "ahh it'll do for now until i upgrade"

becuase then you have to rip half the car apart to re-wire, id say get the best yoru money can afford, but 0ga is a little to excessive...

hope that helps...

2 or 4 gauge is plenty for most applications.

Im running 0 gauge, and it ended up working out well, but Im running 4 amplifiers and all my fuses on my amplifiers add up to around 300 amps.

Bigger is always better if you can fit it in. Saves you having to upgrade again. But it comes at a cost.

8-6ga would be fine for a 350WRMS amp, but as many have said, get a 4-2ga so you wont have to upgrade later, i've re-done mine about 3 times now! it does get frustrating!!

That just means you're a slow learner :P lol

I'm running a Jaycar monoblock (only at 4 Ohm's though (400WRMS)), and a Jaycar 4x130WRMS amp, with the power coming from the battery through 4 ga, then splitting into 8ga and going to both amps.

Seems to be working fine, but I dunno how it'll go when I get another sub and pull 700WRMS from the monoblock
