mkay, jst a quick question.

i hav a response (jaycar) 12" Xl sub and am thinking of getting another. those of you who know the sub im talking about will know that the subs look pretty average facing outwards normally, but the back of them look great. nice big chrome double magnet.

anyway jst wondering if i face the subs into the box will i need to port the box for them to work effectively? at the moment its in a sealed box and i like the bass it gives, so i'd rather keep the box sealed.

also dont ported boxes hav to be bigger or something to get the same effective bass or am i jst trippin hardcore?

cheers :D

Inverting the subs in your case would effectively increase the volume of the sealed box and allow a slightly lower reaching response curve, but doesn't mean you have to port it. Generally ported boxes are quite large yes, for example I have yet to build a 12" ported box that is less than 2cf. IMHO ported boxes should be designed ground up, instead of cutting a hole into a sealed box and converting it etc.
