Hi all,

Got myself a 94 2.6 TS Magna 7 months ago and really glad to locate this wonderful site!

I am having a problem with the aircon. Apparently, no air is being blown out of the aircon vents if the fan speed switch is at 1, 2 and 3. Air will only be blown out of the aircon vent if I switch the fan speed to MAX. This is a pain in the butt since everyone hardly use the max speed for both hot and cold air. I do notice that when I switch the fan speed to 1, I can hear whirring sound beneath the dash, probably indicating that the aircon/compressor is working, but not the fan, which only "work" in max mode.

Anyone can help me with this?

at a guess you might have a dicky switch - i find it weird that the fan will work in high mode but nothing less - im guessing that all the circuit would be the same but the switch would just cut the voltage or maybe do something to the fan.. hrm

Yeah all I can think of is a switch problem...

you probably have one of 2 problems, switch, which is unlikely or the fan resistor which is the most common reason in all cars to have this problem.

Thanks for the reply!

Will check out the switch and fan resistor. A mechanic from Kmart Auto told me that a aircon switch job cost around $200 to $300. Anybody can recommend me a good aircon shop around Melbourne?

As I said in the PM drop around, we can check out the problem and see exactly what is wrong. Do not take it to KMART auto, you will probably end up driving away with an evaperotive system bolted to your roof lol
